water filter

Hi, My unit came with the WaterPur water filter. It states that you use silicone grease to lubricate the "O" ring. Problem is I can't find any in my area. The only kind I can find is the electronic silicone grease. Can this be used. Is it the same thing? I used to use vasoline on my pool filter housing "O" ring and Theads. Could this be used instead of the grease? What do you use? Thanks

Keg lube from a homebrewing supply store is the same thing. Or amazon.com

Any food grade lube will work

We just got our 8289ws and so far love it. Any helpful hints on the water filter? I am having trouble removing the casing to put the filter in. It isn't in the most convenient place to get a good grip on it.

Thanks

food grade silicone lube is available at hardware stores (I got mine at an Ace). Mine came in a little round cup.
Look in the water parts aisle - where the house water filters live.

Vaseline is not recommended - it is petroleum based and will deteriorate the O ring.

I hesitate to mention it, but K-Y would be a better fit for the intended use...

Have fun!

Did yours come with the white wrench? If it did I'd try that. Mine is in a compartment outside that is easy to access unscrewed by hand.

Yes it came with the wrench and the filter is located inside. Not much room to put the wrench on and turn.

Be careful! I ripped my bracket clean off the inside of the compartment it was screwed to. Then I had to remove the filter housing from the bracket, reattach the bracket and then reattached the housing to the bracket. It took FOREVER
