Having another issue with our Rockwood 8315bss.. the water pump. As long as the water tank is full it works fine but stops working long before the tank is empty. Fill it back up works ok but stops again before it is even half empty. Anyone have any ideas as to what the problem could be?
Can you access the water pump and tank???
Have you visually verified that the tank is still half full when the pump
quits??
The wall LED tank indicators lie often.
If the tank is actually half full then check if your pump suction line is kinked
or has a large high spot in it.
The line should run directly from tank to pump with no high spots.

Found with our Georgetown that our tank is very large but also not very tall (only about 6 or 7" tall). Due to the fact that the intake port is about 3/4" high and located about 1/4" above the bottom of the tank then the port can become uncovered when the water level gets down to about 1" deep. For a tank so large that can mean a good 5 or 6 gallons that can't be drawn and the pump starts sucking air. Very poor design for those of us that dry camp. Add to that the fact that the intake is at the back end of the tank and we are usually just a bit nose down when parked we loose even more water. I found that FR had provided an intake hose (presumably to draw up anti freeze from a bottle by the pump) that I could connect to the low point drain hose on the tank thereby giving me the ability to draw water from both ends of the tank (front and rear). Now as long as we are just a tad bit low on the passenger side then we are good.
As Kydan pointed out the indicators can and are notoriously wrong. They way they are placed on most tanks you will read 1/3 full the moment the 2/3 sensors are uncoverd. You still have 2/3 tank of water but it will read 1/3. There are better sensors out there that will read much more acurately but they are a bit spendy and I find that if you have a way to visually check the water level in the tank that is the best way. FR is good at hiding things but my tank is behind a panel with 2 removable inspection ports so I have unscrewed those ports and left the covers at home so I can see the water level.

We had the same problem with our 8315BSS. They ended up replacing the water tank. When it would stop pumping the LED display still showed half a tank. I then opened the fresh water tank drain valve to empty the tank and watch the LED go down. This will just prove that there is still water in the tank and the LED display works. I took ours to Camping World and they worked with Forest River and took care of it under warranty.
