Water Purification System

I have a 2015 Rockwood 8329SS. We seldom drink the water either from holding tank or city water connection. After reading all the negative on the filter with this system, I have decided not to install filter. Our dealer says we can use the water as is. My question is: does the purification system do anything without the filter. I am contemplating removing the entire purification system under bathroom sink to gain storage. How difficult would this be? Thanks in advance for your input. I love this forum!

Without filter in, it doesn't do anything. Took mine out and use it outside. I just by-pass filter with Pex (grey short piece).....

If your just referring to the water filter, it should be no problem to remove it. Just get a few feet of pex line and a couple of push "shark bite" fittings. Cut the filter housing out and replace it with line.
We bring bottled water with us for drinking purposes, so I removed our filter awhile back.

Purification system? Unless you have something special, the filter is the water purification system. No other components. No different than installing a whole house water filter in your home. A lot of campers remove the canister and insert bypass tubing and use an external filter when connected to shore water. This set up will not filter water from your holding tank but there is a filter (of sorts) from the holding tank to the input port of the water pump (usually).

x2 what Bubbles said...it is not at all a water purification system. If a dealer is selling it as that, then he/she is embellishing it, but they normally don't ever do that sort of thing.
It is simpler a filter, no filter, and it's just straight water as is from the tap. If you don't plan on using a filter then absolutely remove the canister and do as others have said and a put a piece of pex in it's place, many of us have done it. Problem being that the canister can crack, etc, or simply come undone as many have reported and you have a mini flood inside. So having a a filter on the exterior resolves all that.

If the FW tank has been cleaned and a filter used to fill the tank no other filter is needed unless you wish to use a PUR or other brand faucet mounted filter.

We have the same camper only a 2014. Last year I removed the filter under the bathroom sink and replaced it with a hose. I go to Wally World every spring and by an in line filter. Sometimes I use the water for coffee or cooking.

Same as what others have said. It just gave me heartburn to have a water filter canister inside the RV so we had it removed. We now use an outside water filter. In addition to that we have a Brita water pitcher filter that anything we drink we run through. So, all of our water is filtered from the outside coming into the RV and then any water we're going to use for coffee or tea or drinking is filtered through a Britta filter pitcher. We do not use the onboard freshwater tank at all. Our camping is always on the grid.

Thanks to all of you for your expert advise. I posted that query before I had a look under the bathroom sink. Extra storage? What a joke on myself! Of course, the pamphlet picture of the canister and filter looked much bigger! I shall definitely remove the assembly at some time down the road, and use an exterior filter when we do have the luxury of city water. But I seriously doubt that we ever store anything in that already clogged space! When I de-winterized this week, will the antifreeze that's in the canister be flushed out? Thanks again. Jim

Assuming you are plumbed correctly, yes the antifreeze will be purged when you de-winterize. It is a whole house filter and therefore all pressurized water (pump/shore) passes thru the filter.

Everything I've read about de winterizing says to put water in the holding tank and purge the antifreeze with the water pump. Why not just hook up to city water to purge? Our new 8329SS has an antifreeze inlet port. Do I flush that with city water? Thank you all.
