Water purification- where is it

I have a 2017 8312ss and cannot find the water purification filter. I remember dealer telling me they installed filter but have no idea where it is. Can someone direct me to this?

Usually very close to your water pump. Find the water pump, then follow the discharge hose. It should meet a Tee. The 2nd side of the Tee will be from your City Water connection. The 3rd side of the Tee should go to the filter.

Our 8289WS filter is under the counter in the kitchen. Remove panels two screws. Kind of hard to get to but doable.

on my 8289 it is on the drivers side pass through behind a removable panel. First thing i did was get rid of it I've seen to many of them break and it is a mess by the time you get the water turned off.

I saw a couple videos of your unit on YouTube and it looks like the city water and fresh water tank fill ports are on the rear wall beside the ladder. The interior at that location appears to have a double door cabinet below a bunk bed with a single cabinet door below that. That cabinet door is likely locked with a third hinge. I suspect that your water pump and filter will be behind that cabinet door. You just need to remove one or two screws to be able to open the cabinet door and you should find it in there.

I would be worried about it freezing in the winter and it probably wouldn't be the same if you flushed antifreeze through it either. I have 33 ft Widcat 5th wheel, does this one have a water filter hidden somewhere?

You remove the filter and reinstall the housing before pushing antifreeze through the water system. RV antifreeze doesn't expand, it just gels. The stuff I use is supposed to be good down to -50°C (-58°F).

If the filter is hidden behind a panel like some people were saying it could easily get missed and I would think filter element could get contaminated with the antifreeze and give your water an off taste. I guess it would depend on what type of filter it was. If it's just some type of screen not so much, but it paper or some type of fiber filter it may retain the antifreeze taste. On my last unit I found some low point drains that I was unaware of that had not been flushed and they still had antifreeze in them.

You're probably right that it would affect the taste of the water for a while at least. The thing is, you can't leave the filter in indefinitely. It needs to be changed once in a while. We're still working so we only use our TT on 5-6 weekends and for 2-3 weeks of vacation each year, so I change ours annually. Fulltimers will need to change the filter more frequently. If you're winterizing your camper for winter storage, you can pull the filter at the end of the season and put a new one in before your first outing the next Spring.

After searching all over our 2015 Cedar Creek and not finding the “whole house “ water filter; I talked with the dealer who told me that FR stopped installing the water filters in some models.

filter removed

I winterize our campers myself. When I did our new 8289ws last fall the hardest part was removing the filter from the canister under the kitchen counter. I saw a post here that explained how to remove it all together. I bought the couple dollar connector and now have the filter and housing sitting on a shelf in the shed. We have always used the blue filter on the water hydrant so just figured really did not need the hassle. Winterizing this next fall should be a piece of cake. If anyone needs the almost new canister and filter let me know. I will not be reinstalling it.
