What is that black thing on my camper?

I just got a new 2015 Windjammer, It has something on the back about where a rear view camera would be mounted. Is it a rear view camera? Nothing in the instructions manuals about a camera, did not order a rear view, if it is a rear view how do you hook it up and use it? If its not then what the heck is it?

Thanks, but it is not a vent.

What makes you think it's not?

A picture would help much. One from further back to see its position and then one up close would be ideal.

There was a thread for another camper the other day that seemed to indicate that it is the wiring for a rear view camera, but the actual camera was not there.

Its in the middle of the camper, on the back wall, about 10 inchs from the roof. No holes for venting, unit has a back bedroom, nothing to vent. All my vents are on the roof. I really think its a back-up camera or a back-up camera mount. Hope someone can set me straight.

agree with Turbs

I have been told it is a vent for the curved part of the roof.

We just purchased our 2015 8289WS and asked the same question. The salesman call FR who said it's a mounting bracket for a rear mounted camera - that's all.

My long time camping friends have the same "black" cover.
There's is a vent.
They also have a rear bedroom.

It is a mounting plate for a backup camera that can be purchased through the Forest River parts department.

This from windjammer.

Ron if the unit was built towards the end of April, the black cover is part of the mounting system for the optional Furrion reversing camera system now being provided on the Windjammer and Signature models. If your unit was built prior to that, there was a small vent on the back of some models. This clearly looks like a vent and is opened at the bottom.

Does anyone know how much the system costs? Can't find anything on the internet except Furrion's product page but no indication there.

My DW is next to useless as a backing aid.
