What is this?

This vent-looking plastic cover is top center on the rear of the rockwood 8282 WS 5th wheel. Any thoughts?
Thinking an air vent or pre-wired for camera?

The consensus was that it is a vent for the ceiling, although I have no idea why it would have to be vented. Maybe so when it gets hot the air has somewhere to expand? One would have to ask the design engineers I suppose.

I would think that anyone who tours the Rockwood factory during the Goshen rally would be able to get a definite answer.

I'll find out sooner or later. There is a conduit with wires in the cabinet just inside of the vent but the wires seem to go forward in the ceiling to a light.

I'm still rooting for a camera pre-wire

Think it is just a vent, we have the same one on our Flagstaff naturally.

However, joe, the wire in the cabinet will surely come in handy should you want to ever install a 12v camera.

Do you honestly FR would do anything that considerate? I have one on the rear of my Windjammer also. I stuck a finger into it and it felt like an approximate 1" hole with a screen covering. There isn't any cabinets on the inside of my model so I can't trace it from the inside. I just considered it a vent for (whatever).

I don't know it's original intent, but it was the ideal place to route the rear view camera wires. I removed the outer cover, then the rubberized plug, and drilled through into the rear cabinet on my 8289WS. Also made a whole in the rubberized plug.

Ran the camera wire through to the cabinet, and then replaced the plug and outer cover, re-sealing the outer cover with clear silicone.

Picked up the 12VDC from the light wiring in side the cabinet by installing a switch and fuse.

Made for a clean, waterproof installation.
