What is this?
This came with my new TT but I don't know what it is or what it's for, anybody know? I looked thru the 1000 pages of documentation that came with the TT but I didn't see it.

It is to remove the bowl of the water filter in your unit, be sure to hang on to the top of the housing to break the bowl loose.

I also have one that I can now throw away. I removed the inside water filter and canister and now use an inline filter on the water hose OUTSIDE THE RV.

Why did you do that? Does the inside filter not filter all the water? I have a filter that I used outside on my old trailer.

I was concerned about the canister coming open under pressure and flooding. Why have a canister that can be opened "inside" the trailer?
I just did not want to take a chance.......

There has been some threads about the bowl coming unscrewed by it's self.
Others have reported the bowl or the housing cracking.
No matter the reason the end results has been a unit full of water.
Removing the filter from inside is the better option.

Just keep in mind by removing the inside filter on a lot of units you will no longer be filtering your tank water.

Those that have the wrench can also position it on the canister so that the canister cannot turn and leave it there which is the best solution. Not hard to do with a little imagination.

I know you can filter the water no matter how the tank is filled.

Thanks everyone, I never considered that the canister could come apart and cause flooding. I'll have to give this some consideration.

Filter wrench
The wrench for my 2010 Gtown337 also fit the sewer pipe cover . Made it a lot easier to remove the cap.

I had trouble getting a sewer cap off last year. Had to have the daughters BF get it off. So my wife got me this for my B'day (it's the orange thing; the other things are to show you all the things it will fit on!):

Someone mentioned "...be sure to hang on to the top of the housing to break the bowl loose.", which is good advice.
Mine was always too flimsily mounted until I finally decided to get serious and re-attach the housing bracket using through-bolts and large washers. It was a quick and simple solution, and now the housing stays put while I tighten the bowl.
Mounting the filter on the outside seems like a good suggestion, however. The location of my filter is under a gaucho, in a small cubby-hole adjacent to the water heater. The space is tiny, and it's almost impossible to use the filter wrench in there. I can't think of a great place to mount it outside my trailer though, but mine is one of the larger popups.
