Wheel Studs
I was checking the torque (95lbs) on my trailer's wheels the other day as I had installed new tires, and one lugnut felt a bit soft...gave it a couple more turns and it still wouldn't feel tight and then noticed the stud was pulling out of the brake drum. Tore down the wheel and was presented with this... oh well there are 4 more to hold the wheel on

Were you using a torque wrench, (I'm having trouble what you mean by feeling soft) & not getting a click?
Did the stud hole in the drum get damaged?
I've done a lot of tire changing over the years but never had that happen. I elongated the holes in a rim on my truck in the 80s due to loose wheel nuts (my bad). That was an expensive lesson (R & R rotor to install studs & a new rim).

That stud looks like it was not properly hardened.
Cheap Chinese crap. (ok, maybe it was a fluke)
The real issue here is whether it is the ONLY stud not properly hardened.
I think a 100% inspection of all the other stud heads is in order.
Look for cracks in the stud head in the area where that one failed.

WOW! I have never seen one like that snap clean all around.
I would also agree that it was a stud not properly hardened at the manufacturer. If it was 10 years old I can see fracturing over time but not a new trailer.

Yes, no click on the torque wrench, kept tightening it, but felt like nothing was happening. Didnt damage the drum...it pulled straight thru.
I use a torque wrench it all the time on my 5th and vehicles... and no impact wrench was used on this either. I have had enough warped rotors on vehicles to last me a lifetime, after started using torgue wrenches faithfully...never had an issue after that.

My guess is it wasn't properly heat treated.
See the difference in color new vs old.
As long as the others torque right up to 95 I would not
stress out over this.

That is good to hear. I was not looking forward to crawling under the camper for an "eyes on" check of mine.
They torque just fine to 90 foot pounds.

Yep...not stressed over it, the others torque up just fine...and I check my wheels often. Next year when I repack I will inspect all the studs....btw the stud on top is not the replacement, just one I had hanging around, thought I would drop in in the pic for comparison.

Where did you pick up the tires Bob? And if you don't mind how much apiece were they and did they take your DUro's on trade?

Kal-Tire $108 a piece... had high pressure stems and balanced at the same time...which was extra. Don't have the invoice in front of me, seems to me just under $500.
I kept the Duro's...thinking I might find me some ford rims...or try and find some cheap trailer rims and put the Duros on over winter and store the Maxxis in the garage.
