I made a two piece mast out of wood (joined with a piece of PVC pipe) and mounted an external WiFi and cell booster antenna on it.

Got everything including the extension cords from these guys.
Solid Signal Search Results for "wifi antenna"

I have since gotten a longer range one.

Here is an FAQ to help you select what is right for you.

I use a nanostation2-------------

I use a NANO-STATION2, works up to ten miles on a flat country side. You can purchase a inside mount that will stick to a window and by pointing it at
a WIFY station, keeps you from getting bumped off because of the strong signal on transmit and receive for your WIFI signal.

You can also use a NANO STATION5 which works at 5MHZ with less interference. But I have not had any problems with the 2 MHZ NANO STATION.

Around $75.00 each.

Directional antennas (like the Nanostation) are certainly cool, no doubt.

I tried one on the mast but returned it because the wind would turn the Yagi away from the transmitter. Also FINDING the broadcast location in the first place without a signal strength meter was also a chore I hated.

Omnidirectional antennas avoid climbing up and turning the antenna to the broadcast location whenever the wind blew.

I took a piece of 3/16" x 1" x 4' steel band and mounted it to my TV antenna with hose clamps. I bent the upper half to configure to the 2' wifi antenna mount. This way the antenna will fold down when the TV is lowered. It could take a few bends and twists to work. Trail and error but it will work. No pics till spring.

Lou, do you leave anything mounted for traveling? Or so you set it all up when you arrive?

Everything travels in the fence tube under the camper with our flags and it only gets set up when needed.

My only concern with mounting additional hardware to the TV antenna mast is the weight of the antenna (mine is pretty heavy) above the TV elements. The wind might wiggle the mast and the leverage of the mass of the antenna that far from the plastic gears can accelerate wear or actually break them.

A quick search will give you several options in addition to the one I selected.

I have a geek friend who recommended this Wi'Fi antenna to me. Even though I never bought one, thought I'd pass it on. He uses it with his Class A as he works a lot while traveling. Note also this antenna is recommended for RV use.

This is a very cool omnidirectional antenna.
