Windjammer a.c. unit
Bought a 2012 unused 3001W 34 footer. I'm looking at generator option and for the life of me can't determine if the a.c. is 13.5 or 15.0 btu. Mine is a single unit, ducted.
I can't get a call back from Forest River, does anyone know the size? I'm looking at the Champion 3100 gen/inverter, the "paired" Honda, yammie and Northern Tool units. Champion says it will start and run 15K, but some reviews are critical.
I'd hate to buy one that's unusable.
Thanks

Do you have a model number off the unit? Without the model number it's going to be impossible to tell which unit was installed.

Dometic calls for a MINIMUM of 3500 running watts regardless if it's a 13.5k or 15k.
Now you know what your in search for.

3001w gen
Good morning Shark. I have a 3001w also, but have the additional 15K unit over the bedroom. From what I can tell the main A/C unit is your 13.5K unit with the optional unit getting installed over the front vent. If I have to have this in for service, I am going to have them swap the locations to put the larger unit in the main cabin for better cooling. The front unit will chill the bedroom down where you could hang meat in there!
I bought two Ryobi RYi2200 units and am using an Arien's parallel cable to connect them. At the time I picked up my generators, no one had the Ryobi parallel cable, but on it's specifications it said it would work with Arien's generators. So, I figured the Arien's would work with the Ryobi units and it does. Don't forget you will have to have an Edison plug for the inverters because they do not have a bridged ground (I think that is what is is called). Anyway without it, your trailer will not see the power at all. Do a search on the internet or in this forum for directions on making one yourself (easy) or you can purchase them several places.

Thanks very much, searched around today and it's apparently a Coleman 13.5 with a rep of taking a bit of juice to start.

The coleman Mach can draw as much as 28 amps momentarily at start up.
I've configured a mod that delays the fan for 15 - 20 seconds while compressor gets up and running.
Herk has it on his coleman.
I had it on my sabre for 5 years to help when using a gennie.

If you're looking at the "paired" Honda or Yamaha, definitely go with those if you can afford it. Lots of advantages over the Champion, a few of those being weight and noise. Nothing against the Champion, but the Honda has the rep, and rightly so. We almost went with the Champion, but my wife told me we couldn't afford it at the time, and I'm glad. I'll wait til I can get the Hondas.

If it is the Diamond or Emerald Package, probably has the 15.0, if not probably the 13.5, unless original owner specially ordered the 15.0.

The 15,000 BTU air conditioner is a separate option from the packages. It has to be ordered in addition to any other options.

Right you are Bruce. I was going on memory. Bad move on my part; I forgot that my memory is terrible.
