windjammer awning

Hi all
I have a new 2015, Ultra V 2715vs (mini windjammer) I"m having a problem with the awning. When you extend it,it makes a loud bang sound from the forward end due to the arms not opening evenly. If I stop it prior to the bang, and pull the forward arm open, it opens normal or at least it doesn't sound like something broke. But it also is wrinkled when it is retracted on the forward end. Is there an adjustment I can make or is this a dealer fix?

One thing you might verify is that the awning is centered on the roller when fully extended.

Check out this YouTube clip, it explains the popping noise in the awning at around 2:22 or 2:23 in the clip.

windjammer awning

Thanks guys for the replies,I saw that video too.The part that concerns me most is that when the awning is fully rolled up it is all wrinkled up on the side that the noise comes from.It seems that it is not retracting evenly, but I don"t know what to do to fix it.

Hi I was having the same problem with my 2015 flagstaff 30wikss V lite. (Windjammers sister) I brought the tt back to the dealer. He was also stumped as to why the awning arms would not open and had a factory rep from dometic check it out. Dometic had dealer install two rubber donuts in the awning arms
dometic Part # 459-8088 don't had any problems with the arms opening now

hope this helps Tim.

As bubbles stated, the material HAS to be centered on the roller. If it is not centered, it will wrinkle the material and the arms will not collapse together, but will bind and bang going together and also when deploying the awning. Center the material and pop rivet thru the side hems into the tube to hold it centered.

Do you have a picture of where the rubber donuts were installed?

Will putting a pop rivet thru the side hems into the roller cause any problems with the motor on front side of the awning?

No, the actual motor is not close to the end.
