Winterizing short cut

If you have a 2604 (or other model) where the water pump, filter and WH are all located in one compartment, you can try this short cut. Instead of hooking up a hose to the anti-freeze inlet, reach inside and disconnect the hose from the back of that fitting. Set your jug in the compartment and stick the disconnected suction hose into the jug. AF level will be above the pump so it draws immediately. No need for a second piece of hose.

I have a fitting that allows me to hook air up to that antifreeze inlet. I just blow everything out. Learned this from boating, that pink stuff is not needed because air does not freeze. I do use use pink in the drains however.

I used to think the same way until I found out the hard way that air does not get all the water out. Especially the toilet flush valve.

Yep... and what water is left in those valves WILL freeze and create havoc come spring.

I've made this statement before... I've never read/heard/experienced any one having frozen/broken issues when ingesting antifreeze into their plumbing system.

I've seen/read many accounts of frozen/broken issues when just using air.

Yes, some things still require individual attention.

To each their own, I have 100% success rate and yes it gets cold here. I just hate the pink stuff in my fresh water system.

How do you get the water out of the pump with air

That's a good question.

Your "shortcut" is exactly how my trailer is designed.

I have the fitting too and blow my lines out AND the suck the pink a/f into the system. Don't forget to throw your water filter away (replace in the spring) and DON'T forget to flush your toilet and run the outside shower to get everything winterized. I take what is left and pour it down the traps and the first drain my gray and black water tanks again.
I just hope the pink stuff is good to -20 as that is what the temp is going to be here in Maine tomorrow night!!!

I remove the bowl and blow it out with air.

Again, to each his own.

Winterizing

B4 my Mini I owned a Sunline Saturn for 15 yrs. I've gotten into the habit of draining/bypassing the water heater, blowing everything out, flushing with anti-freeze (everything 'cept the heater), then blowing everything out again using the collected pink stuff for the drains (topped off with fresh). Haven't had a problem yet

I put mine in heated storage. No winterizing needed.
