Different stroke for different folks. I'd honestly love to have one of the power winders for my cord. I just really can't imagine spending that kind of money for it!

You know OC, you might have something there. Since we can't put much else on the back bumper, I'll bet us creative FRFers could customize the Mor-ryde reel to be fairly water proof and mount it on the back bumper. (put a bottom on it, seal the seems, and fabricate a fairly waterproof and lockable lid for it) As with most things we "lock or secure" in our trucks or outside the RV, it will only prevent the honest folks from walking off with it. Since the cords lay out in the weather when in use anyway, what difference does it make if it gets a bit damp while being stored on the reel on the back bumper. That way it doesn't take up other valuable storage space and will take a fraction of weight off the pin box. Just a thought...and "I'm not a very smart man".

I've got the cargo bay reel that came with our Silverback and find that it makes rolling up that heavy cord a lot easier. However I don't know how stiff the cord would get at temps around 40 F. The footprint of the reel is quite small approx. 8 x 14 inches and I don't think I would want to be without it!

A 50 amp power cord is the heavyist thing I have to lift, manipulate and lift in and out of the storage area. I'm all for getting a cord reel. Shoreline makes an electric one that is only 20$ more than the Mor Ryde manual one.

We have a friend who has a 2012 Monaco Diplomat MH ( a beautiful machine). His power cord is stowed on a electrically powered reel in a compartment on the left rear side of the MH. He opens the door and pushes a button and the cord comes out or in. Nice.

I use a heavy duty plastic storage box like this and also use it to store my surge protector and the chain & padlock that I use to protect the surge protector from walking off. Then, it slides in the side compartment with my two smaller plastic bins on top (those two contain my fresh water hose and cable/satellite coaxial wires).

You've got a nice looking box.
I like that. Seems like it would give me a bit more room than the 5 gallon bucket that I'm using now.

My 50 amp cord is stored in a 5 gal bucket and stored between the slides at the rear of the RV. This reduces some weight from the pin up front and doesn't take up any storage space

Anyone know the minimum bend radius for the 50 amp cord? Its a #6-2 or 6-3 isn't it?

This is what I did with mine....mounted a 5 gallon bucket inside a muck bucket. I drilled a hole in the side near the bottom for the RV end to come out and coiled the rest of the cord around the bucket. I only have to uncoil the amount needed and the rest stays in the muck bucket. The rope handles on the muck bucket make it easy to handle and I store all my adapters in the lidded 5 gallon bucket. I did drill some holes in the bottom to let any rain water drain.

I'm not sure of the bend radius, but I believe its a #6-4 wire. 2-hot 1- neutral 1-ground

I use this reel. You can buy it without the air hose. Mounted the base on the floor of the basement. It holds 30 feet of 50 amp with ease.

I was thinking about that myself, I wonder if it would work for the stiff --- 50 amp cord
I may invest $20 in this project cheaper than $200

It works fine with a 50 amp cord. I hook the male end under one of the u shaped pieces. I then feed the cord with one hand and crank with the other. I have even kept a rag in my feed hand to wipe the snow off, so it does work fine in the cold too. I would post a picture of it installed, but I would have to climb over a 5 foot snow drift to get to it.
