Nope. It is designed as an air hose reel. Opposite the crank are the fittings for the air. I'm guessing that the spring keeps the reel sealed against the O ring.
I took a chance on this reel last spring. I figured if it didn't work out, I wasn't out that much money. Turns out, it worked well. It does have to be assembled, I found that I had to put thread locker on the crank assembly. You do have to feed cord and crank until about half the cord is in, but after that just turning the crank will pull it right in. I'll try to get a picture of mine tomorrow (or in the spring) and post it.

Ah, no need to strap on the snowshoes....
I looked at the link and saw the price, I think I can find a use for that reel...
Thank you.

We currently use that vinyl bag that our cord came in, but....
I picked up one of those round wreath storage boxes at WalMart this week, thinking it'd work to store the stinky slinky in, but I'm wondering if that would work for the cord, and possibly store the cord *and* the 50 amp extension cord we bought with the V-Lite. If not both cords, then maybe the cord and the surge guard I just bought. Sheesh that's some heavy duty surge protection! Literally heavy....and big!
Amazon.com: TRC 50 Amp Portable RV Surge Guard with LCD Display: Automotive
I also bought the locking box that secures the surge guard to the cord.

I'd be afraid the wreath box isn't up for the weight of the cord.
I tried a cheap plastic box for my campfire tools and the hinges broke down on it and it didn't stay closed (sure, I cut a chunk out of the side but we'll ignore that! ).

The snow is melting around here today so I went to the storage lot to check on her and took a picture of my set up.

That's the same reel I use for my 5/8' air hose in the shop. It works well for that usage fosho. If I had a ledge like you I think I'd buy one for the Beast too.

Here is what I have mocked up for my rig. I wanted them removeable maybe (might change after I use them ) and I wanted to handle the fresh water hose. After it warms up a bit I will play with it some more.
I posted an old picture of my storage area for reference. (note not an FR unit)

I just ordered another 40 feet of 6/4 SOOW cable on eBay, and the connectors to make up another power cord. I have one that is 70' that I use in the storage building to get power to the RV when it's in there.
The 6/4 SOOW is quite thin, and very flexible even in cold weather. I also ran into a situation where I was about 3 feet short with the OEM cable at a campground, so the 40' length will be much better then the 25' OEM.
Same conductor size in the 6/4 for the power and neutral wires, and 6 AWG as opposed to 8 AWG for the ground. The OD on this cable is .86", so you can see that it's much easier to handle. The SOOW carries the following characteristics:
For use as portable electrical power and portable control cable. Not for direct burial applications. Can be used for ground test or motor leads. Also can provide heavy-duty service for industrial tools, portable lights, battery chargers and equipment exposed to oils, solvents, flame.

So what is the story with this stuff? Looking on Ebay this stuff looks to be thinner and nicer. Not cheap. but I may be able to get a 50 ft section on my reel. VERY great idea. It would be nice if our OEM cords came with this wire.

As I mentioned, I've been using it to power the RV when it's in my Ag Building (a 65 foot run from the power center) with no problem. I drive my truck over it when I back that in there (not frequently) with no ill effects. While there is a slight voltage drop when heavily loaded (both A/Cs, Water Heater, Microwave) due to the extended length, it is quite acceptable, and is probably less than I'd experience using a 50A extension cord with the connection resistance.
I first came into contact with this type cable when I used the SOOW to run power to the large Digital LED Video Boards at Rodeos.
The 40' that I ordered on Tuesday just arrived, in a Priority US Mail Box measuring 12"X12"X6". This gives you an idea of how much more compact the SOOW is. Of course, I'll never get it rolled that tight again. LOL But the 40' will store on my MorRyde reel with room to spare.
So, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I haven't actually weighed it. But good question.
Tomorrow I'll break out the scale, and get the weight on both the OEM and the 40' SOOW.
I never worried about the weight. It was the manageability that has always been the issue.

Just did the weights on the two cables.
25 foot OEM cable weighs 17.4 pounds.
40 foot SOOW cable weighs 26.0 pounds.
So the OEM cable wieghs .696 pounds per foot, and the SOOW weighs .650 pounds per foot. No significant weight advantage, but the added length and handling is a benefit worth the change IMO.
Actually, I was surprised at the small difference in weight. It just seems so much lighter.

Thanks RG... That answers the burning question. As you say not much weight difference, but ease of handling has to be the deciding factor.

What about the diameter? Could I get a 40fter on the same reel that the current 30fter I have is on?
