I've always been able to wind it inside of a 5 gallon bucket. It has to be done carefully to get it all wound in, but it usually isn't horridly difficult.

THOUGH- "cold" camping for me is 40-50* days and they aren't often.

Silverback began installing a cord reel in the storage compartment. It's similar to this MOR/ryde reel in this link MOR/ryde Products

I don't know how well it works when the 50 amp cord is COLD.

I roll mine up and use the velco self stick in a couple of places, and then hang it in my front compartment. But I am sure looking at the Mor/Ryde really hard, maybe tax refund time.

Naturally Silverback began installing those cord reels AFTER I had already bought mine.

I have 3 of these which really work great. Before I got them, I used a "Milk type carton" but these are much nicer and more compact. I have 2 power cords and a 50' 30A extension cord.

As far as I know they only make those to handle up to a 30 amp cord. I doubt a 50 amp cord would fit it.

Supposedly they will handle a 30' 50A cord. My 30' 30A s don't fill them, but the 50' 30A gets real close.

They're very expensive but Glendinning 50 amp RV cables are like a slinky. They are not a bit stiff and really do make it extremely easy to roll up and store no matter what the temperature.

I coil mine up and toss it in the bed of the truckie. It hasn't blown away yet.

Fricking cord is the heavyist thing I have to lift while camping and with an occasionally sore back, the mor/ryde might be the best choice for me... Saving my pennies.

Wouldn't be worried about it blowing out, just that it might grow legs and walk off when the truck is unattended. I even lock the hitch and the tonneau cover while towing even tho' the tonneau cover could be opened pretty easily, at least out of sight out of mind and it does keep curious fingers and hands off of things.

If it's seen that might be a problem. When we traveled out of state last summer, any pit stops where the truck was un-attended such as lunch, I'd toss crap over it so it was unseen. Most of the time it was a fuel stop or potty break where one of us stayed with the truck. I agree that 50a cord is a PITA to haul around but a big cord reel would take up a helluva lot of room in the basement.

I installed the MorRyde in my 8289. Love it. Cord is difficult to handle when cold, but this makes it a lot easier.

Looked but didn't see anything on rolling up the power cord.

I'm thinking the reel is something I'll be doing this year. I hate wrestling with the 50 amp cord when it's warm, in the cold the cord seems to have a mind of its own. When we bought our Silverback I never dreamed the difference in the handling and weight of a 30 amp vs. 50 amp would be so dramatic.
