2010 SP 280 water heater issue.

We purchased used about 3 weeks ago. Love it so far. I have had an issue with getting my hot water heater going. I can't seem to get it to run on either gas or electric. I have read the manual and followed all the steps, but it still doesn't want to work. I have thought about changing the element to see if it may be burned out, but I'm not sure why it won't run on lp. Any suggestions?

Is it filled with water? Pull the pressure relief valve and make sure water comes out. If not your high limits are tripped.

I'll double check that to be sure. I know that the high limits were tripped when I hooked up because I had to reset them.

Sometimes it takes a few starts to run it on gas if both tanks where removed and the system was able to lose pressure. Light up a burner on the stove and run it for a minute or 2, then try to start the water heater on gas. There is a 12v fuse inside the access panel for the water heater, check that. Also, some units have a fusible link on the water heater, that might have burned up, doing its job. A quick check with a multimeter will let you know about that. On 120v AC there is a break on the panel and a switch on the water heater itself.

You also may have the bypass valves incorrect. Please read the following FAQ thread as it touches on a lot including bypass/crossover valve(s) in post #3 there.

Suburban's electric switch and much more

Yeah if it was winterized the tank may not be getting any water in it until you turn the bypass valves back. Check that pressure relief valve it will tell you instantly.
