2015 Forest River Surveyor 293RLTS

we are considering buying the 2015 Forest River Surveyor 293RLTS. anyone else have this one or an older year of this model? any complaints or advice? we currently own Primetime Avenger 27rlss. w love it in most way but need at least a regular length queen size instead of the short queen that is in our Avenger. we love a lot of the things in the avenger, and the quality, but want a fifth wheel so we can get into some of the places we enjoy camping easier, because of less length behind the truck. we have read a lot of good things about this unit by other owners but want to do the cons as well

I guess these Surveyor fifth wheels aren't very popular. I posted asking if anyone has seen the 292rets & haven't heard a word??

Depends on what part of the country. I know on the West Coast the Surveyor 5ers are not available. We love our Surveyor TT (2014 SC321BHTS)

So in what part of the country ARE they popular? Or who even owns one? Maybe they haven't found their way to this forum yet? I sure would like to hear from an owner about the quality & features on these.

Where did you find other owners of the new Surveyor fifth wheels that you've read good things about?

We do not have a Surveyor 5th wheel, but do have an older Surveyor travel trailer (2008 SV263). It has been a great trailer. The low profile, plus torsion axles allows it to be towed easily. It is lightweight for a 28.5 footer.

I really wanted a Surveyor when we step up to a 5th wheel in about a year, but none of the floorplans work for us.

My wife and I have a 2013 293RLTS that looks the same as the 2015. We love it and only have a few cons. The mattress was too thin so we added a 3 inch gel pad from Costco that helped. The fold out mattress is to thin also and will replace with an air mattress before we have a guest use again. The rear stabilizers are intermittent but I find it is quicker to manual crank them up and down. The lighting in the bath could be better. That is all I can think of right now.
The floor plan was exactly what we were looking for. Could you a few more inches between the bed and bath wall as I am a big guy.

Wife and I enjoying our first trip out in our 2015 293 RLTS. so far so good. Pulls great, first 5th wheel for us and other than a few glitches that were fixed up front it's great. Take a few more trips to really figure it out. By the way, we are in West Virginia.

We own a 2013 of the same model and overall have been satisfied. Have pulled several thousand miles with no major issues. Love the way it pulls and the opposing slides make for a lot of room. Hope you enjoy as much as we have.

Pulled our 2015 293 RLTS to a site last night for a long weekend with the wife. Pulled the WV mountain back roads great lime it wasn't back there. I did have a bad hitch, the jaw pin was bad and had to replace it. Lucky I guess that we didn't loose it. Looking forward to a great trip.

Got the camper home from a week in it and had a great time. Found a problem that will have to be fixed though. The black waste tank is connected to the Gray 1 switch. Not a big issue and we'll get it fixed. Other than that its a very comfortable rig.

We bought a 293rtl in October. We live in Colorado & bought it in Rapid City (Green Star RV..... very good to deal with). We had seen one in MN last summer & loved the floor plan. Couldn't find one in Denver or surrounding area, so off to SD! We love it and have very few issues. Pulls great with our half-ton GMC pkp. With a 6.2 engine & HD tow pkg. Wish the dining room table had a pull-out extension, but not a really big deal. We love this unit !

A follow up to my previous post...
After a couple trips we are, for the most part, very happy with the fiver. As time goes by, however, we are finding more fit-and-finish issues. The drain connections under the sink were not tight, the winterizing valve is reversed, winterize position is actually the normal position, the trim on the end of one of the slides came loose (of 6 screws uses only 2 were holding anything), lots of construction debris under the sofa and chairs, and a couple other minor things. Nothing I couldn't deal with myself, but it's just the idea...

Ours also has the winterizing valves backwards , tell me how that happens , did the person installing this just come in one day and say i'm going to mess with people today and hook the winterizing valve up backwards

My guess is that's the way the plumbing is arranged when it comes to the valve. To hook it up right might mean more 90 degree fittings and therefor more places to leak.

We have a 2013 SVF 293 Surveyor 5th wheel and really like it. Have taken it from Michigan to Florida twice and many other trips in the mid-west. I don't know why there aren't more Surveyor 5th wheels too. We really shopped the 5th wheel market and found the Surveyor to have a great floor plan and lots of extras and would do it again.

I have checked my winterizing valve after your post but can't seem to determine if it is plumed backwards. What is the best way to verify. Taking it out this week with DW and hope that all the small issues we have had are finally corrected. We'll see. No matter plan on relaxing and enjoying good company.
