Thinking of buying this model. I have a concern about how the murphy bed lowers into the storage belly when in the upright position. I fear water, moisture in the belly could ruin the mattress. Salesman doesn't think it will be an issue. Wondering if others have this type of set-up.

Well, of course he doesn't see it as a problem.

I'd be more concerned about what the heck you could store in that area. It kind of defeats the purpose of pass through storage.

Well, we decided to buy it. My husband has a sheet metal shop and will make some sort of box around the mattress to protect it some.

See if you can get the mattress to bend and keep the storage space as.....well, advertised "pass through storage space". My neighbors bought a similar Murphy bed model Surveyor and were taken back when the mattress dipped into the space. It's a space sving design that defeats the purpose of the pass through storage. Crappy design that really needs to be remedied prior to leaving the factory.

Anyways, my neighbors put a piece of plywood across the top of the storage area and the mattress still folds into the cavity above. Give it a try.
