Adding Drawers to Storage Bins in Slide Dinette 200MBLE

Good morning/afternoon:

I wish to thank all who take the time to participate in these forums and help us novice RV'ers. We have a 2018 MBLE and in the slide dinette under the cushions are plywood cut-out openings for storage. You folks helped me with an idea of hinges for access. We would like to make these also have side bunk access, meaning put drawers in which we can simply slide out of the opening. Anyone done this, have any ideas on kits or whether Forest River can help so we get the same finish/trim. Thank you.

Just saw this, I’d love to do the same thing. What did you end up doing?

Thanks

Gotcha, I misread the date. I’ll keep an eye on your thread.

I doubt that FR has kits or finish materials now for your trailer. If your handy with woodworking, how about just building the drawer box and installing it on some casters. Might have to go to a paint store to find some stain to come close to what you already have in trim colors. Exact match, I doubt it. But I think you can come close.Have fun, let us know what you come up with.

Happy Trails and God Bless

No, not underpants.

The dinette seats on our Cherokee 38P destination trailer came with both lift-up plywood panels under the cushions and pull out drawers. They are kind of a nuisance to use. A five-foot drawer is a long thing to pull out and access. These drawers are set on crude wooden slides, not nice roller slides, and take some effort to open and close.

I just looked to see if you can get five-foot roller drawer slides. You can, but they are really expensive:

I would like to have outside access to this same area. I am trying to find a way to maintain the integrity of the slide out with a door outside under the bench.

I will be following this. If I cant figure a way to go with the outside access I too will be doing the drawer or maybe two smaller drawers.

ANY IDEAS ?

Best of luck!

Post 28 in Drawer with slides

Over the winter, I build drawer into the dinette seat box in my 2017 FR3. The drawer face are the original doors. Drawer are 28" deep X 5" tall X original opening less slide. 28 in deep is fine for me. This leaves some room in back to store items that are not high use. The attached photos show drawers open with slide in and out. A word of caution: On my first trip out the drawers open closed on there owe when going down the road. So I added the drawer lock to keep them closed so they would not open and bang the cabinet and frig when going down the road. The lock are semi flush so you would not strike them by accident plus a visual lock status

I saw a hack where someone used a picture frame around the cutout to frame the opening. Small wooden crates on casters might work inside. Let me know how it goes. We have the 200 mble as well.
