Any info on using Surveyor bike rack?

Didnt get any manual on the bike rack that came w our Surveyor. Anyone got any info on how to secure bikes on this? Thanks!

I haven't tried ours yet but I imagine you can tie the tires off on the uprights. I've been using the rack to haul wood in a cargo bag. Works real nice.

That might just be what I am looking for. How many bikes do think it will support and have you see a sticker regarding max weight?

I've had 4 bikes on mine with no problems. The sticker on the rack states a 300 pound limit. 4 bikes are about 120-150 pounds.

We strap all 4 bikes to the uprights with a ratchet strap, but you also need to strap all wheels to the bottom of the rack. When bouncing, the wheels can hop out of the rails. It happened to us. We use velcro strapping at each wheel to the bottom rails plus ratchet straps to each upright.

I cannot read the label on the picture in the first post. I would guess it is a Lippert product based on the frame mounting. Do you know?

Also watch which bike is close to the camper, you don't want a handlebar going through the fiberglass. I used 3 ratchet straps and bungee cords to keep everything in place. My rack says 150 lbs

One design feature in ours that is not well thought out is the rack must be down to plug in shore power and city water.

3 weeks ago I took delivery on my new surveyor 32bhds. The bike rack was puzzling me. Though reading through threads in this forum and taking everyone's suggestions I think I found a way to make them stay on. I was never able to find any pictures of it in use so I snapped some and posting here. Whatcha think? Best way to do this? Though I will swap for ratchet straps for safety.

Looks good, I ran the straps sort of the same way. The first time I loaded it my wife's bike was next to the fiberglass, I didn't like the looks of it so I put it in the number 2 position.

I did put a scratch on my fiberglass the first time we used it. I'm more diligent now.

On my particular model, the rack has to be down to get to the hot water heater. Not a huge problem, but...

I removed the rack this week because we won't use it on our cross country summer trip. I figured it might save some weight. The rack itself weighs about 75-100 pounds.

Thanks for all the replies...it helped figure out some ways to use this. Actually, not too difficult once you get a lead on how it works. Actually a very nice quality accessory & am glad our Surveyor 251RKS came with. I have found that strapping bikes to the vertical posts first, then strapped to the front of the rack (part furthest from trailer) works the best to insure it wont bang against the trailer.

I put 2 milk crates on mine secured with u bolts and carry 2 spare propane tanks. I use a chain and padlock to the upright support to make sure they don't walk away.
