Awning Repair

The stitching on our awning is coming undone up near the end seem next to the trailer wallI. If I was on a sail boat I would use waxed cotton, but not sure what to uses to make the repair. Certainly needs to be something that will stand up to the sun, anyone have any experience with these kinds of repairs. I hate to go to the trouble of repairing and it not hold up.

did the wax cotton thread mentioned a few years ago work for you? Did you simply stitch the rip shut with a thread and needle?
I just noticed a 2 inch rip in my awning. I want to try to stop it from spreading and saw your question.

Thanks Fred

I have always used 6-10 lb. test Fireline (kevlar fishing line) for equipment stitching, repair etc. As a fishing line, I don't care for it. For this purpose it is unbeatable. You have to tie good knots and a drop of Krazy Glue to solidify the knot is a solid repair. You cant hardly break the stuff and it hasn't seemed to be affected by UV or rot. Use a big darning needle and appropriate backing material where indicated for your application
