black spots on roof

I just cleaned my surveyor top with dawn. I noted a lot of small black dots that seem to be part of the roof not something on it. Is this a problem?

I used to get small black dots about the size of the head of a pin on my swimming pool white surround. They were petroleum based as they cleaned up with mineral spirits. I was 20 miles from an airport on the path where jets would climb to altitude and attributed the spots to fuel from the jets. After they built another runway, the spots all but disappeared.

I have also heard of "shotgun" mold ... see this description...

black spots

These spots donot look like they are on the top. It looks like the white covering is wearing down and exposing the underneath surphase.

roof integrity and the ability of it to protect your RV from moisture damage is a big deal...

I would suggest you get either a mobile RV repair person there or take it to a dealer for a professional to look at it.

I cannot imagine anything normal dissolving or wearing holes into a plastic roof sheet, but perhaps this is something that is not normal.

Have you tried to clean the dots at all with a solvent like paint thinner, mineral spirits or alcohol (IPA from a drugstore)? Use the solvent on a small spot, and then wipe with a damp rag with soap to remove the solvent after testing.

keep us posted as to your findings
