Breakaway cable replacement

I bought one of the Fastway coils that replaces the breakaway cable, but I have a question about the directions. They say to remove the pin at the box and then cut off the old cable, attach the new coil and then replace the pin. So the pin will pull all the way out of the box? And then I can just push it back where it came from? I somehow had the idea that the pin wouldn't come all the way out. I'm assuming it requires a pretty good pull to get it out, and probably a hard push for it to click back into place. Do I have that right? Should I have the battery off-line when I do it? Thanks for your help.

The pin will pull all the way out and go back in. You should disconnect the battery or you will energize the breaks and could burn out the magnets.

Great. That's exactly what I needed to know. Thanks so much for your helpful response.

I bought one of those cables last year for my fifth wheel and absolutely love it. It's out of the way but there when you need it.
