Chocking wheels

I've been reading about minimizing the rocking by chocking the wheels. We have an '06 sv264. On some of the other thread the Bal 28010 X-Chock was recommended. In the specs they require a 2 1/2" space between the tires. Unfortunately, on my 264 the space appears to be about 2 1/8'. So it looks like this chock won't work.

We want to get a good quality chock that will fit the narrow space. What have others done to chock the wheels?

This is what I use on my Surveyor 192T which also has closley spaced wheels. These are a little costly but they work great. I spent more on several others that did not work before I got these.

We had the same problem. On our previous trailer we used the Ball 28010. For our new SV294, we had to replace the X-Chocks with this new "thinner" model. These work great. We crank the all the way open and slip them in and a few turns and we are secure.

Thanks guys. Is it necessary to use 2 chocks, one on each side, or will chocking only one side keep it from moving?

I use the X-Chocks as well on my Surveyor 186. They work great. I use two to stop as much movement as possible. I guess you could get away with one. My wife likes the rig as movement free as possible. With the stabilizers down and both x-chocks on it is very stable. Of course nothing will stop all the movement. One more thing they are lockable as well with a pad lock once in place.

I use 2. That helps alot. Mine are lockable also. Because my Surveyor has a "skirt" on the top of the wheel well and 14" tires there was not enough room to get the other types in and then adjust them. The roto chocks are adjustable from the outside.

Take a good look before you buy anything. I have been trying to give my "X chocks" away because no one would buy them. No takers yet.

Go to Home depot and by a section of 4x4 lumber, measure the distance about 1/2 the distance from the ground to your axle center - between the tires, then cut the boards with a 22.5 degree angle (roughly), then buy a threaded bolt long enough to span the two boards, put nuts and washers on each end of the bolt and tighten them together, provides the same effect as the scissor type, cheaper and functional. Just another option to customize what you need

Wheel chocks will not stop the camper from rocking, but it will keep the camper from moving on it's wheels, you will find that the stabilizer jacks will be the real issue for the actual left to right rocking motion.
