And we can not get hot water either electric or gas. Please help otherwise I must wash dihees with cold water and take a cold shower!

typically if you do not get many responses it is because you are not giving the correct information. If you are not getting hot water from the hot water heater you need to let people know a little more, model of hot water heater, gas, electric or both? who set the unit up, was it winterized, etc.

The first thing that comes to mind is...are the bypass valves set right? If not, you probably have burnt out the electric element.

Do you know if water heater is heating water but still can't get hot water to faucets or water heater is just not working? If water heater is hot to touch, then make sure your water heater valves and by-pass valves are set to summer. Here is picture is you have 3 valve arrangement.

If the hot water heater is working and all the tank valves are in correct position and you are still not getting hot water. Check your outside shower to see if both valves are cut off and not cut off at the shower head. If the outside shower is cut of at the shower head and the valves are open then the water is by passing.

Another thing to check (and often forgotten) is the outside and inside shower wands. If the valves are open and the water shut off at the wand, cold water can cross over to the hot side when hot water is demanded by any source.
