Cracked bumper

We have a new 2012 surv 295 (one month old)- our first big outing over Labor day weekend. We hauled one bike and returned home to find the bumper has broken/cracked away from the frame. Just sick thinking what could have happened if it had broken off while traveling on the interstate.

The general consensus of the members here is that bikes should not be carried on the back bumper on light weight campers. Luckily, the bumper stayed on the camper. Fix the cracked bumper, find another way to carry your bike, and you will be good to go.

if you had researched bikes on rear bumpers, before you actually did it, you'd have found out that it's not recommended. in fact, a lot of manufacturers are saying not to do it in their literature.

this issue is discussed constantly on all RV forums and unless you weld/brace a receiver to the frame/bumper, you'll get what happened to you.
also, doing this mod will void most frame warranties.
