Do Surveyors now come with Tank Rinsers?
Hi:
I am thinking about getting a Surveyor SV304 and was wondering if they come with a Blank Tank Rinser already installed?
The reason I ask is they come with the enclosed under-belly and I am not sure if it is possible or a major pain to install a Tornado Rinser.
Thanks

My Cherokee came with the Santi-Flush already installed. Maybe it's a forest river standard now. All I know is that i LOVE it.

The Rockwood Signature series has them. Nice! I don't know what brand the thing is, but it sounds like a dishwasher spinning around in there...I use whatever chemical is on sale and a little laundry soap...and my poop don't stink if you understand what I'm saying!

I just got an '09 sv291 Surveyor and it does not have a rinser. Not sure if it's an option. Dealer would probably install an after market one.

With a travel trailer the potty sits right on top of the tank, usually. If you open the potty flush valve you get a view right into the tank. Pleasant thought.
A built in tankwasher is neat, but you can get a wand thing to shove down the potty that works pretty good for $10, or make your own from PVC pipe. That will get you through until you get around to installing the Tornado or whatever washer you like.

I don't believe the Tornado (or equivalent) is standard in a Surveyor. I wish it was as the enclosed underbelly makes retrofitting such a device a daunting task. My dealer didn't even want to talk about doing it.

It's really not a big deal to install a black tank flusher in a unit with an enclosed underbelly.
You have to drop a portion of the underbelly material which is just plasticized cardboard held up with lots and lots of screws.
It took me less than 2 hours to install one in our 2007 Rockwood. It's a must have once you have one.

The dealer told me that there is insulation under there that would need to be replaced. Is that not so? I do see spray/foam insulation sticking out where the pipes come out of the bottom.

Our unit has styrofoam sheet insulation laying on top of the underbelly covering so it would not need to be replaced if I installed a tank rinser. The spray foam is used everywhere there is a penetration through the membrane. I don't know if FR changed the type of insulation used in the underbelly but sounds like the dealer doesn't want to fool with it. Either that or doesn't know what he's talking about. Now, if he's talking about replacing any spray foam insulation that gets removed, that's a non-issue. You just get some and squirt it around the areas that need it. All of a 5 minute job and a $5.00 can of spray foam.

I can only state what I found in the Rockwood, Surveyors may be different. There was no isulation above the underbelly material, only the spray foam around the penetrations to the underbelly.
I re-sealed the penetrations with gorilla tape instead of the spray foam the factory used.

Thanks for the info. I think I will pull down a portion, take a peek, and see what I find. I really WOULD like to have a Tornado.

I removed the belly tarp on my 2008 SV304 to work on the brake wiring. There was no insulation other than spray foam around the penetrations through the underbelly. Not a big job to drop down and reinstall about one hour.

Thanks for the info. That doesn't sound like too big a job then.
