Entertainment center remote...

What is everyone doing about the remote to the entertainment center while in bed...
It's pretty tough to run the DVD while in bed...
Any mods out there to get that signal around the corner without getting out of bed...
If I hang off the side of the bed with arm stretched out it kinda works...

I guess it depends on what type entertainment center you have but mine is in the center of the room and has a swing around Tv which faces the living area or can pivot to face the bed. I had the same remote issue because the DVD player or satelite receiver was on the other side of the wall below the Tv, so I measured it up and cut a hole in the paneling, framed it like it belongs there and now I turn the receiver or DVD box and stick the front through the hole when watching from bed.

Thanks for the idea...but i do have the flip around TV but the dvd/radio is a flush mount system and ya cant just turn it around without tearing it out first...
How are other folks dealing with it???

I have the same unit as you, and I can't figure out a way to do it, either. All I can figure is to get up and go around to the other side when you need to start or stop the movie. A PIA, for sure.

Yea not very well thought out...
If I'm laying on the starboard side of the bed with the mirrored pantry door on the slideout open then reach out almost to the window i can get it to work most of the time...They forgot to put that in the directions...

Samsberr is on the solution. You will need to strategically hang a mirror on the opposing wall from the player. From which you will be able to send the remote signal to the unit.

You could try an IR remote controll repeater/extender. It basically recieves your IR remote signal locally, transmits it over RF frequencies to the repeater which converts it back to an IR signal close to the DVD/TV. Cost is approx $25 from radio shack. It does add some clutter, and requires to be plugged in. So it depends on how badly you need it.

Personally, I'd stick with the mirror trick if that works for you

Yeah, good idea bouncing it off the pantry mirror. I didn't know if that would work or not. Good thinking.

Extendable golf ball retriever, mirror, some kind of 90. Or eliminate 90 and use just mirror with remote.

I like the bouncing off the mirror idea. You could even try trickshots! We ran into the same problem too but the wife is the only one to actually watch a DVD so far and she just yelled to me to operate the remote control.
