All you need is a high enough payload rating on the truck to handle the weight of the hitch, all people and gear you travel with and the loaded pin weight.

The numbers have to work ...

I haul my 5'r with my Ecobeast, but it is a longbox. First and foremost run the numbers on your proposed combo. There are VERY few pairs that will work.

What's your payload from your door jam sticker.

Just have to find out the gvwr. Gross vehicle weight rating.Should be a sticker on your door of the ford. Includes all weight in the truck. Passengers, fuel, cargo, hitch weight etc. The gcwr ( gross combined weight rating is all that plus the trailer. The new f-150 should be able to tow your trailer pretty easily according to ford. I tow mine with a gm so I'm not sure but I heard the f150 had a 9000 lb. Tow capacity.

Cargo carrying capacity is the first number that you'll need to decide if your within limits.
You'll normally exceed this number before ANY OTHER weight.
This number will be found on your tire info sticker on your door jamb.

Shown here above the tire info. "2448"

This number is.
All passengers
All items carried in the truck and bed
Hitch and sway system for hitch pull.

A 1/2 ton will exceed this number first.

Hi neighbor. Great looking 5er. Can't wait till spring. I find half the fun of getting away is the time behind the wheel.

I've heard those things pull great, in fact I might (as much as I'm not a Ford guy) go that direction next year or so. I'm not a REAL strict weight guy, but I'm pretty sure you've busted your payload without putting a single thing in the truck. Not enough that I'd worry about axle / bearing / suspension wear overly much, but I'd be most concerned about exceeding the tire rating in your case. Manufacturers tend to put "just enough" of everything on a vehicle. You might think about going to something other than stock tires for that load if you haven't...it would suck to loose one with 9000 lbs. behind you and nearly 2000 lbs. pushing down on them.
