Fall protection for bunk beds.

We are taking delivery of a Surveyor SP295 next week. We have a 3 and 5 year old and are concerned about the top bunks and kids sleeping on them. Our kids are bed wanderers and will use every square inch of the bed at night. We were looking at our old safety bed sides that we used to use at home. It does not appear they would work.

Any ideas or systems people currently use? Pictures would be great.

Love to find one myself. The bunk mattresses arw so thin I am afraid they would not work well with the Plastic type as they usually go under the mattress . We have been considering building something and discretely mounting it... but in discretely lies the problem

Why could you not use the Walmart plastic type and screw them to the wooden base? Just an idea I do not know if it would work.

I have an 8 year old that did fall out once. We now use the plastic one from walmart with no problem. We did not have to screw it down, it stays under the mattress just fine.

I found this on another site. Something like this may work for you? You could substitute different materials for your decor. The mounts under the bunks could be wrapped in carpet? You should be able to find anything you need at the local Home Center?

If you want to secure them, but don't want to screw into the wood, try a large piece of hoop and loop along the length of the pole under the bed.
I see that as a middle ground solution.

We used this when the kids were young. Especially for Baby - 40x20 Bedrail - White - Babies R Us - Babies "R" Us

It has a clip that you anchor to the bed or anything that you can clip it to that holds it in place. I also went to Lowe's and got two half circle metal brackets that had screw holes in each end I screwed them to the bed support board about half way down the bed rail arms for additional support. The bed rail would slide in/out from under them but i had them pretty tight. the best part is that this rail lifts and folds down in the front so you have easy access.

I'd sent pictures but it is two campers ago and our kids are old enough now not to need this.

good luck.
