The fridge needs 12v system at all times. the controls need that. Propane runs the cooling systems. Electric (shore power) runs the cooling systems.
the point of the thread is running propane to run the fridge when traveling. Pros, runs the fridge and keeps things cold. Cons, there is a flame needed to burn the propane, which some think has the possibility causing a fire hazard from gas fumes when filling up the Tow Vehicle at a filling station.
