I don't think my camper fridge runs on 12v. I think most need AC power to run or Propane with 12v for the pilot.

Since most people seem to run it on propane there must be a good reason.
Thanks.
Our PUP had the three way fridge which would run off 12v. However it was nearly as cold on 12v as it was on propane or 110v.

The fridge needs 12v system at all times. the controls need that. Propane runs the cooling systems. Electric (shore power) runs the cooling systems.

the point of the thread is running propane to run the fridge when traveling. Pros, runs the fridge and keeps things cold. Cons, there is a flame needed to burn the propane, which some think has the possibility causing a fire hazard from gas fumes when filling up the Tow Vehicle at a filling station.

78% of the respondents run with it on.
