I Should Have Looked More Closely...

At the model on the lot.
If I had, I would have told them to not install the in house water filter. It had to have been installed prior to the cabinets being installed. It's at the back of one of the base cabinets in a corner...
GRRRRRRRRRRRRR...

Now I'm hoping that by using an external filter the house filter will last longer and I won't have to change it but once a year - or less.

One more thing on the winterizing checklist!

If you use external filter remove internal one.

I can't without removing the cabinets which is the whole kitchen or the rear outer panel of the trailer.

What I meant was just the filter not the housing.

Really?!? Wow! Thanks. I was thinking that the filter itself had to be in there...
I gotta check that out!

I see what ya mean!
Take the filter out. Rv places such as camping world makes
A block off plate that you put in the top of the canister
then no water goes in it. Then just use your external filter.

Does the filter not last long? The fact that it had a filter was a selling point for us ... I hope we're not disappointed!!

The filters are usually good for a full year.

^True.
I don't like the location - it's a great opportunity for drips, leaks and spills when changing.
Am I a whiner?

The reviews on the plate that blocks the water from going into the filter are awful. Lots of leaks with it. I would not suggest that route.

Oh no .... just went to put the filter in for the first time and pulled right off the wall!!!@ Also, guess you have to take pressure off the system first?!!

Take filter element out when you winterize and put new one in each spring. Yes they are a pain and not in a great place but you only have to deal with them a couple times a year. Much more hassle IMHO to deal with an external filter every time.

I'll attempt repair today. My dealer is 40 miles away and not worth the fuel to take it just for that!

I have the same filter at home on my well. It's impossible to get the housing to break loose with pressure on the system. I turn off the pressure from the well and open one sink valve to let the pressure off, and I can then open the housing by hand. I agree that it's in a bad spot, but not that bad. I brought my 2012 SV-264 home yesterday for the first time. We're gonna LOVE it, especially compared to our 2012 Shadow Cruiser 185FBS...

Good luck with it!

Took the opportunity to slightly relocate, more toward the front of the cabinet. 1" long screws vs the shorties they used. Sweet!

With the way this thing is, I believe a funnel could be made from a 2-litre coke bottle and a short piece of hose. That will keep the water spills down. If the pressure's off, this should be fairly easy.
