Moisture in pass thru storage

Friend has moisture (pretty severe) getting into both sides of the front pass thru storage area. It's from rain. No indication of moisture under the mattress but enough moisture to cause some serious molding in the storage area. Any one else experienced this.

Have you or he checked the seals around the baggage door flange?
I'd guess that's where the leaks are most likely coming from.
