Need Help Surveyor 32bhds Info

First off, Im new to the forum and would appreciate any help/criticism etc...
I am looking to purchase my first camper and we have narrowed it down to the Surveyor 32bhds (2016 model). It will be my wife and I plus our 3 boys. Does anybody have any personal knowledge of this unit? I have read a lot of negative reviews as well as good ones. Are these constructed well? Any known issues? Anything to be aware of? Is the 15000btu a/c enough to keep cool when its 85-90* out? Sorry for so many questions, but before I drop $28000, I would like to know. Also, I have a 2013 F150 Supercrew with 5.0 and 3.73 hears (4x4). Anybody pull one of these with that truck? Truck says towing capacity is 9300lbs and dry weight of trailer is around 7100lbs. Again, any info is greatly appreciated.

For a trailer with that kind of dry weight, you better check the truck's payload capacity.

From what I can tell, the payload capacity is around 1760lbs. Does that make sense? Sorry for the ignorance. I'm not use to towing anything this big and never had to worry about what my truck was capable of.

Hi usmcknight69,

I am also looking at this trailer for my family of 5 and will be towing it with a Chevrolet 1500 Crew Cab. Did you end up purchasing this unit? What are your thoughts? I am also looking at the 294qble that is somewhat similar, but is missing the slide out in the bunkhouse room. It also doesn't have the outdoor kitchen which is something I'd really like.

Thanks,

Eric

Thumbs up Surveyor 32 BHDS

I received my 2016 32 BHDS the beginning of June and my family and I absolutely love it!! My wife and I have 2 kids and the bunkhouse has been perfect. I also have a 2013 F-150 SuperCrew 5.0L that tows the trailer, the truck pulls the trailer fine, with a good weight distributing hitch with trailer sway control it doesn't get pushed around too much. They other person was correct with a truck full of people you are not going to have a whole lot of payload left maybe a few hundred pounds. I have the 15k BTU A/C and it did perfectly fine over labor day here in Illinois when it hit upper 80's - 90 degrees each day. My only gripes are the front stabilizer jacks sit very low even when retracted. (Watch your campsites, bent one of mine) The TV mount is great for moving the TV from inside to the outside of the trailer easily however I would't travel with the TV hanging on the wall mine ripped the mount out of the wall. TV was fine and I just added some finished hardwood and extra screws to fix the mount back to the wall. Overall extremely happy with purchase haven't had any other issues on my first 6 trips.

I did end up purchasing the 32bhds and love it. We have used it twice so far and have another two trips planned over the next few weeks. I ended up selling my F150 and purchased a new Dodge 2500 diesel. The F150 towed it ok, but I was very hesitant to tow into the mountains with it. The diesel is just a different world. I can barely tell the trailer is behind me now. For this being our first trailer, I can honestly say I don't have any complaints yet. The 15000 btu a/c unit was more than enough to cool it down even during mid day. Hope this helps.

Yeah, I decided to step up to a 2500 diesel to be safe. Cant put a price tag on safety for the family. I love my 32bhds so far. Haven't put a TV in the bunkhouse yet, but will probably do so this winter.

My family (5 total... also 3 boys) and I also bought a new 2016 32 BHDS this year. We took delivery of it the 1st of April. I wish I had seen your post (I was busy camping all summer) so I could have responded earlier. We have taken it on multiple trips this year. A few fairly close and two trips that where about 6 hours from home. We love the camper! The A/C and the heater works great... we have used both!

I have pulled the camper all summer with a 2013 GMC 1500. I debated this awhile before I ordered but but decided to go ahead. The truck pulls the camper fine but it does work fairly hard in hilly roads. If all we wanted to do was maximum of 5 or 6 hour trips I would just keep using my 1500; however, we want to take it to FL and maybe out West. For this reason I am looking now for a 2500 Diesel.

We just got back from what may be our last trip this past weekend and I researching how to winterize it. I have a few questions that I will post in another thread shortly.

I have a 2015 321BHTS and must say I feel lucky that my dry weight was only 6800lbs. I have 3 slides and a 2nd AC. Still in shock to this day but anyways I love the trailer . Had a few minor issues but warranty took care of that .
