Piece of junk ? I think so ...
Today I took my trailer from storage to adjust my brake controller. I was having a nice and easy day. After adjusting the controller I came home to grab a quick bite and to drop it back at the storage facility later today.
When I get into the trailer, there was water everywhere ..... The slidout weather stripping got accumulated water at their bottom on both sides of the slideout and as I drove water came out gushing. I used two rolls of paper towel to clean it up.
I believe I found where at the top water is getting ins sealed them with lates permanently flexible sealant which I used succesfully on my tent trailer before.
An small area on the floor got water damage alrady, I am trying to dry the wood which got wet so that it gets hopefully abck to its normal shape.
With all the problems I had with this trailer, I regret that I purchased a surveyor ! I would not recommend this brand to anyone ....
Here are some pictures ...

Since I purchased it in US and imported to Canada, the dealer here does not want to even look at it without a hefty inspection fee. And they are not obligated to look according to FR. So the warranty at this time is a moot point. Most probably I am on my own with a leaky brand new trailer.

The dealer has no responsibility to service any unit, but if it is under warranty Forest River does. I would call Forest River and check it out. Your US dealer may also be able to help you. I bought a unit in the US and the dealer (RVWholesalers) looked after me quite well.

Is the leak from the top to the slide? Had a leak on our Rockwood 2605 with the 'above the floor' slide...wonder if it's similiar.

The water has accumulated at the bottom of the gasgets of the slide, on the inside side. So it is not entering from the top of the slide open area, it is finding its way into the gasget itself, I assume from the corners as they were the only opening I could find, and then just pools at thr bottom of the gasget. When it overfills or the trailer moves it pours out .... I was adjsuting my brakes today and braked harshly couple of times, otherwise I would never ever find out that there was water inside the gasget
I will take better pictures tomorrow showing the area more clearly.

Is the outside bottom flange of the slide making good contact with the bottom seal? Good idea to check the gap between the outer flange of the slide and the outside wall...the gap should be relatively even. The outer flange should also be compressing the outer gasket around the full perimeter to the slide opening.

It seems to be sealing just fine, seems to be being the key word I guess I am pretty careful about checking how the slide sits both when it is in and out, and every time I checked I hadn't seen anything to be suspicious of.
If it is letting water in while it is closed I will knwo for sure tomorrow as it is raining right now and will keep raining. Where it accumulates it is impossible for it to run away without be flipping the gasget outside.

Just an update .. got it from the dealer, supposedly it was fixed. It is still leaking .... I am disgusted with the quality ! I regret that I purchased this unit. 4 months in, used only twice and leaks and all Forest River says is I should not have imported it to Canada and I should take it back to where I bought it from, 550 miles away .... I guess their trailers leak when they cross the border and don't if they don't cross the border !
Way to ignore your responsibilities and your customers Forest River !

Like I said before. Buy local. Support your local dealer. You might have to drive 50 or 60 miles to find a honest dealer. There are several dealers that I would not recommend to anyone. They are the typical used car salemen. Sell you anything to make a dollar. I have found that the local family run dealership will give you the best price and after sales service.

Put a slide awning on it. Even closed, it keeps the top seal clean. Doesn't "fix" your problem or your warranty issue, but at least it fixes the results of the problem, and allows you to try to enjoy your unit.

I do not believe in buying local in this global era. All the jobs are shipped off shore when companies want to save a few bucks and yet I am expected to support the local ma and pa shops to the tune of 7,900 dollars a unit ? Just like companies I have a choice on how and where I spend my money.
My next choice will be an RV where I can buy it wherever I can and which can guarantee me that I can get warranty repairs locally within a reasonable distance.
I do NOT like customers being treated as helpless creatures and their every action being dictated by money hungry corporations and local shops. Since when buying something meant also giving up all your rights as a customer ?
When I was in USA last summer, I did not buy my tv at Bestbuy because I would have to bring it back to USA for repairs. Sears and Walmart guarantees that any item I buy in USA in their stores, I can just return to my local store in Canada. Guess who got my business. It is not really rocket science.
Anyways, for a FR forum I am really going off topic. it is what it is, and this is my last ever FR product, and I will not hesitate telling everyone about my experience and the lack of quality on their product.

Water is coming from underneath unfortunately ... I am sure you are aware that water can climb little bit, the slie side of the unit was lower than the other side when I tested it and I still ended up with water. it goes through the slide rails and passes the seals and ends up inside. I do not see if any kind of seal could stop it from going in because the rails provide the perfect path with the indented middle.
My selling dealer said they would of course look at it and fix it. Worst comes to worst I will take it there ...

I will pass on the bridge and the tower, thank you very much
I spoke to a closeby FR Dealer in USA and they immediately setup an appointment for me to bring it in. The fact that I did not buy it from them was not a factor at all, and it will be fixed under warranty. Thank you Colton RV ! They deserve to take credit for taking care of "a" customer !

Colton RV? I'm surprised that Colton has any connection to Forest River as Buffalo RV is also a Forest River dealer and only about 25 miles from Colton. I hope it goes well for you with them. We had an Itasca that they fixed as they were an Itasca dealer. I'm just surprised that they are a Forest River dealer.

I just checked Colton's website and, sure enough, they sell Forest River trailers. I learn something new every day!

Good news for new owners, it looks to me as if FR has taken steps to resolve the issue of the slide out leaking. I was interested to see if what Goomph has said held true on my 2011 2702ss. Well I found the white ruber gaskets he has photos of but what my TT has different is at both corners a small black catch basin that drains down through the floor and outside.

Obviously they know it WILL leak ... so no solution to my leak problems then ....And my unit is a 2011 too. Either it is a very low end model and they did not install it or they realized they can't stop the leak and said ok, at least lets catch it and route it to outside the trailer. Sucks for me eh ....
Thanks for going to the trouble of checking them out.
