Replace LED strip?

Has anyone replaced the white LED strip installed in their awning? It is so bright that for us it is unusable.

I see it is just Laid in the groove. Wondering how easy or difficult it would be to replace with a colored one that is easier on the eyes.

Ours has the blue leds under the awning, nice glow. I just bought brighter white ones on ebay for under the cabinets and they use double sided tape. Outside in the wind tape may not be secure enough though. If you do replace them get the waterproof ones for the exterior.

I like the idea of under the cabinets I'll try that! As for the awning nine are kind of electric blue as well I like then at night

I agree, it is too bright. With LED technology there should be a way to dim the light and even change the color. Is there an after market product?

There are dimmers available along with remotes to switch them on/off. I think the only way to change to color of what's there is to replace the strip. By carefully removing the original it could be reused in other areas though. I'm planning on running lighting in the cargo bay upfront and another above the headboard for reading.

Get one of these and splice it inline. Then leave the main switch on and use the controller to power it.

I like that dimmer idea. Could that be spliced in behind the panel inside? The frequency should pick it up since it doesn't need an IR sensor?

Don't see why not. Or if your wires go up the channel for the awning, you could put it there. And just wrap it.

I ordered an electronic dimmer off of Amazon, should be an easy mod.
