Roof vents

I have a 2004 sv291 two of my vents have come loose from the inside ceiling on one corner. Does anyone know if they screw into the vent frame or just into the ceiling itself?

Vent frame. Don't go into your ceiling!

What is wrong with going into the ceiling ? First hand experience of a disaster caused by it ?

Perhaps I misread the post. I thought he was talking about a "Max Air" kind of thing on top of the roof. As I read it again, he may very well have been talking about the standard roof vent. The ceiling from inside may very well be OK as long as the roof is not pierced. That's what I was trying to help him avoid.

The inside plastic trim is screwed into the ceiling material (short screws) if one has come loose and will not stay tight, you can put a small, plastic hollow wall anchor in the hole. You could also squeeze a small amount of adhesive caulk into the hole, and then put the screw back in.

I like using tooth picks to fill the gap when screws tend to stop fitting or come loose

This method will work for solid wood, but the celiling panels are usually only 1/8" - 1/4" thick, so there is not much to grab on to.
