Skylight Recall - Suveyor Select SV264 2012

Recieved a letter in the mail from Forest River that a few of these units had cracks in the plastic skylight over the bathroom shower. Checked mine after a rain and what do you know... I am one of the lucky ones.

Just an FYI for all the rest of you with the same trailers.

Thanks for the info. My 2012 SV264 happens to be back at the factory now getting a leak fixed. I'll contact them to get this checked out too while it's there, but if they're really good they would have already checked it. I'll see.

My 2012 Puma 30DBSS has 2 skylights. Both have cracks in all 4 corners. One in kitchen leaked- I caught it almost immediately. One in bathroom never leaked, but was cracked. I assumed it was from over-torquing them when they were installed. I just used some Dicor lap sealant and covered the cracks as they were very low. Wonder if my skylights are the same as the ones getting recalled?

If you don't mind me asking.. where is your leak located? Just wondering if I should take a closer look at mine.

One of the bedroom windows wasn't installed correctly, and leaked causing the interior wall to bubble and pimple. Inspected carefully from the outside the top of the window frame wasn't pushed up against the trailer snug enough, and thus not compressing the seal. Water ran down the side of the trailer and right past the window seal into the wall. If you look carefully you'll be able to see a white seal around the perimeter of the frame - it should be compressed to make a good watertight seal.

I don't think it would hurt to put a bead of caulking around this area, top and sides of the frame (I don't think caulking the bottom is necessary) - which is what I did when I first discovered the leak to prevent further damage. I'll be caulking all the windows this way when I get it back.

Look closely, as the cracks can be hard to see at first. I looked at mine just before towing it in early March. I didn't see any. When we got back, I didn't put my AC cover back on for about 3 weeks. When I did I saw cracks and had some minor water intrusion. Hopefully, my new skylight will be here today. It's got silicone sealing the cracks for now.

Is this recall only for the Surveyor model?? I have two skylights on my new Rockwood. Should I be concerned.
