Sprayer for black tank

Is it bad idea to hook up fresh water pipe to black tank sprayer? Why isn't factory doing this to make it easier for camper? Why they install water sprayer on opposite side of where fresh water is hook up?

Your black tank plumbing is kept separate from your fresh water to prevent the possibility of contaminating your fresh water system. This is also the reason why it is a bad idea to use your drinking water hose to clean your black tank.

Not sure why they inconveniently located your black tank flush on the opposite side of where your other water hook up is but no, it is not a good idea to permanently hook your city water plumbing to the black tank flush.

The black plastic valve is a backflow/antisiphon device designed to keep the the black tank water from contaminating the fresh water should the black tank mistakenly over-fill while you are flushing. It isn't fool-proof enough that I would recommend connecting the two systems together permanently.

the 1st link below is to an after market tank flush unit, "quickie flush", ... it does a good job, equal to any factory installed unit, and w/the 8' hose you can mount the connection point any where you wish ... I've installed them on not only black tanks but gray as well, ...

your flush unit being on the "wrong" side(I'm assuming its on the curb side?), can be inconvenient, but there may be a plus to it being on that side, .... since its over there, its surely mounted on that side/end of the tank as well, and unless your tank drain valve is over there also, the spray direction of your flush unit should give better results, ... the explanation for that statement can be found in the 2nd link below in post #3 and #13 of that thread, ... happy trailering and thorough tank cleaning .........

1) https://www.amazon.com/Camco-40123-Q...=quickie+flush

2) How do you use black water tank flush?

My flush is next to my fresh. I use a y hose connection with dual shut-off. I connect a dedicated hose about 3 feet long with a separate pex shut off halfway down the hose.i keep it connected and have done it for years. Just gotta use common sense to not contaminate water supply .always store water hoses separate from waste hose. Always spray down all hoses with bleached disinfectant.

Most codes require an air gap between a potable water source(fresh) and a non-potable (black or grey) storage so there isn't a possibility of contamination
