Stereo is always on

Is there a way to turn the stereo off for storage? I bought a battery disconnect, but I won't install it if I am just missing a switch somewhere.

Stereo, propane, co detectors all draw a bit of power. If your not plugged in, it'll drain the battery in a few days. Best to either have a battery disconnect or actually remove either ground or power cables from the battery.

I under stand the Co detector but does the stereo stayed powered up to save stations to memory?

That is correct, and the time (if you've ever set it)

I'm sure an RV'er came up with that idea.

I guess if you stayed in 1 place for an extended time, it would be beneficial. I like music as much as the next guy but when I go camping I never turn the radio on. I do run the audio from the tv thru the speakers though.

My stereo in my S/B home stays on similar to this but I can turn it off by holding in a button for a few seconds. It still saves the stations and just shows the time which is 12:00, 12:00, 12:00...

My brother put a simple switch inline to kill power to stereo when not in use.

I also put a switch in line and shut off the power to my stereo.

Thanks, I will probably skip that switch. I installed the battery disconnect today.
