Surveyor 220RBS Bathroom Door Mod

The only thing we didn't like about our SP220 was that you had to deploy the slide a ways to get into the bathroom. I solved the problem by making a "dutch door". The bottom half opens enough to get your legs through, and the top opens all the way. The two halves can be held together with a small bolt so that the door works normally when the slide is out. The door is hollow core so I had to add some wood fillers where the door was cut. Other than that it is a simple project and costs less than ten dollars for the hardware.

Great post & great pics, good job! We also have the Surveyor 220 and when we first got it in early 2013, I put in a folding door in place of the wood door. Unfortunately I used a door from Home Depot that proved to be too heavy and was pulling the very thin ceiling down so I took it out after that and put the wood door back on. We've just gotten used to putting the slide out a bit to use the bathroom while traveling. And, my wife now absolutely refuses to let me touch anything to do with that dang door even tho, like your mod, there are good ideas out there! Sigh.

Thank you for your positive comments. We keep a cover on the TT if we will not use it for a month or more, and since it was not possible to deploy the slide with the cover on, the bathroom was off limits. Now we have full access. Also, since the water pump switch is in the bathroom, I can now wash my hands after "dumping" with the slide in
