Surveyor 245BHS any other owners out there?

I've always enjoyed having some online buddies to bounce things off of when we share the same product. It's been a mutually beneficial relationship with my boats, cars, trailers in the past. However, I have been using the search function and coming up with very little info for the Surveyor 245BHS. Anyone else out there?

I think I am the only member here with a Surveyor 263, but I am OK with that. The others don't know what they are missing.

That does look like a nice floor plan! I'd love to have the rear living space with window!

Maybe someone will come along one day, until then, we'll enjoy.

Where in the world did you find the floorplan for a camper that hasn't been manufactured for 7 years ?? Archive.org ??

The 245BHS looks like a great floorplan in a medium length, lite-weight camper. The CCC of 2460 allows for plenty of loading without overloading the suspension and tires.

MtnGuy, it came up with my first google search. We searched years to get a separate master with full bunks and slide dinette all in a 25' box. Lance was had the closest for a long time. Everything else seemed to be 28' box. We store ours at home, and our drive had some limitations. This works out perfect for us so far.

danewillow! Nice to have you chime in. I hope we can continue to share experiences with the trailer. We're a family of 4 with 2, 10 year old boys. How bout you?

No kids here. We wanted the bunks because someone snores super loud. The bunks will be a snore-free zone. We liked the double-double bunks. Some trailers had some really cramped bunks. The slide dinette gives us the extra room for the dogs (2 Danes and a small terrier mix).

Just bought one and it's our first RV of any kind. Haven't camped in it yet but have outfitted it in the driveway nicely.

Welcome MisterTomek! Glad to have you aboard.

We've been out in ours for a 3 night trip with grandparents...We slept with the boys in their bunks and gave them the master. Last weekend, we went on a 2 nighter for the first trip with just us. It was a LOT more comfortable than what we had before. I really enjoyed the queen walkaround and pocket doors. Although, we are buying a new mattress! We leave in a few weeks for a 3 week beach trip and need the mattress before then.

Welcome OTH Diver!

Hey, anyone want to share any mods they have done or thinking of doing?

I've done the following:
-mounted a tv in the bedroom
-installed PVC fence post for sewer hose
-put a 45d extension on the sewer pipe (those darn valves are tucked under too far!)
-made a new curtain for the bunks (prettier)

Nothing else...haven't had it that long.

Also, does anyone know for sure what our roof material is? I wrote FR, and they would only say, "it's a new product". I asked for more info and they didn't respond.

If you haven't bought yet, check out the prime time tracer air 250 (also by forest river). We almost bought the 245bhs but the extra couch in the tracer gave us extra seating for those rainy days as well as an additional bed in a pinch. Plus the tracer weighs 6085 gvwr, has enclosed heated underbelly, two doors, aluminum construction, power awning, led strip light outside, friction hinge doors, unique "docking station" for all water and cable hookups in one locked place and my favorite, magnetic baggage door latches. Downside is only 1k pounds of payload but that's the tradeoff for the light weight I guess.

The purpose of this thread is not for people shopping for models. It is an owners thread.

For what it's worth, there are many reasons to pick one over the other. The 250 is too large for my needs, doesn't have enough payload for us, has smaller holding tanks, shorter awning, and on and on... also, most of the goodies you listed are also on the 245bhs, including the magnetic doors.

We all have different desires and the "best" model is based all on perspective.

Now that I've compared, not a comparison thread.

Hey fellow Surveyor owners !
Wife and I bought or first RV a 2010 FR Surveyor 302 RL
We live near Hickory, NC and have been on a couple of weekend trips close to home in Marion, NC one to Buck Creek Campground, and once to Mountian Stream RV Resort, both close to Tom Johnson's Camping Center a major RV DEALER in NC. Just encase we needed something, or had problems. Going back to Buck Creek next weekend ! Were hooked! Love it !

Surveyor 245BHS - question

Good afternoon from the West Coast -

I just picked up a new 2016 Surveyor 245BHS trailer last week and went to the National Dune Park in Oregon. Great trip!

I do, however, have a question. The gap between the slide and the wall, in the closed position, is different on the front than it is on the back.

When closed, the gap at the rear of the slide is about 3/4", however at the front the gap is about double that, or 1 1/2".

Does that sound like an issue to anyone? Does anyone else have a mismatched gap?

Thanks very much!

Dave

Dave,

I'm not sure where the gap is that you're referring to? From the outside of my trailer, with the slide in, There are no gaps, and all looks symmetrical. I'm thinking you are referring to somewhere else? Maybe post a picture?

No gapping when slide out is in, maybe a adjustment is needed. We had a water line on the water heater start leaking (crack in line), fortunately we were near a Camper's World- replaced both lines. We are very satisfied with our surveyor. Welcome to the Surveyor family !
