Surveyor Select SV264 2013

Looking to sign papers tomorrow on the above. Picked up from the Atlantic City RV show. I have seen some comments about bottoming out and this concerns me as we do lots of State Parks where the sites are not level. Also I tow with a F350 Diesel 2011 model, do I still new a sway bar set up with this hookup? My current Hybrid I have a friction sway bar that probably is not compatable with something this size.

I like the looks of this rig, it looks well made but don't have time at this point to hit all the forums to find likes and dislikes.

Is there anything I should know that would make a difference?

Any and all help is appreciated.

I have a Surveyor 235 and a good friend and camping buddy has the 264. A Surveyor DOES sit lower and that has its advantages in fuel mileage, stability, etc. Some people have run into issues with the longer trailers (291,295) when there is a substantially un-level site to back into; the frame can rub on the ground. My buddy has not had any problems getting his 264 into sites so far; and my 235 has not been an issue; and I've been in some pretty rugged areas with it. I wouldn't worry about it too much; give it a try; see what happens. Surveyor does make a riser kit that adds 3 to 4 inches of clearance; if you really need it.

The 264 should be child's play for your diesel.

I have the sister ship to the SV264....the SV263. So far, I have only drug my skid arms 1 time.....out of a service center with a big dip getting out to the road. I try to hit those types of things at an angle, but couldn't do it that 1 time. No damage to my skid arms....don't know about the pavement.

I like the my low riding trailer.....I think it give me a little bit better fuel mileage that a higher trailer. Also, the Suveyors tend to have more rake on the front than many trailers I see.

Even with 1 ton truck, a good WDH with integrated sway control would be very beneficial......the tongue weight of that trailer is gonna be in the 800 lb. range ready to camp.

The campsites that I have seen that have a severe slope won't accommodate the 264. They are for shorter units.
If you saw the slope on our parking spot at home, you would lose your concern about clearance.
Once, I released the spring bars thinking that it would be good to have more weight on the rear axle of the truck. The bars drug on the driveway as I backed in!

what is the cost range for the sway bar I will need?

Is there a rule of thumb on how campers depreciate? My 2009 Roo17 is worth less than what we still owe. How will the SV264 hold its value compaired to the the Roo?

There are other sources.
It's a serious set of hardware and works well for me.
Ya gotta get the price down as much as possible. I insisted on buying new and I'm willing to take the hit for it. I rarely buy used stuff.

They are a bit like cars, drive it off the lot and the value drops 25%, I have never sold or traded one that I could get what it should have been worth, but it's not real-estate so buy it to keep.
We are spending our second winter snowbirding in our sv264 and we are very satisfied with it, you do have to remember that it sits lower than most other trailers, we have never encountered any camp site problems with it but some gas stations have weird inclines and I had some messing around to make sure it did not hit bottom. Good luck with it you will enjoy this unit.

NJ asked about the cost range for a sway bar.
I would prefer an anti-sway setup myself

I have a 2012 SV 264 and I have been very happy with it. Just wondering if you bought the camper and if you're as happy with yours as I am with mine. I spent 7 weeks in it during a job move this summer, and the 2" foam walls kept the Texas heat out pretty well... I've used it a couple of times since for a week at a time, and it works well for southern winters, too...

The riser kit that acadianbob mentioned may not work on the 2013 model. I may be wrong, but I think the 2013's have a different axle setup than the 2012. If you think you are going to raise it 3 or 4 inches make sure it's possible first. Other than that, I think you will love your 264. We upgraded from a perfectly good 2010 Malibu (losing money on the Malibu..of course) but the Surveyor is worth every penny that we spent to get it!
