Surveyor SV-291

I just took delivery on a SV-291. Do they come with a manuel on the trailer? I got a lot of manuels on the appliances and add-ons.

Thanks,

Scott

Yes, there should be a Forest River "generic" manual included with the sea of brochures that you have; although for me, I felt it wasn't much help! It covers in general the systems on ALL Forest River brand campers, not any one in particular. I found more answers on this forum than in that book! Also, your individual systems manuals are pretty good, and tell about maintenance and warranties on their components. Randy

Helo SKogler,
You're gonna love your SV291. Ihope it's as well built as our '07 model is. We've had ZERO manufacture issues. I'm sure you've already found out how well it tows. As stated above, the only thing lacking in the trailer is a detailed manual. as long as you have all of your supplimental mannuals you should be okay. welcome to the forum, and ask any questions you may have, someone here will know how to help.

TV Opening

Hello everyone,
I just bought a 2007 291. We love it, but we are wondering what size television fits best in the cabinet opening. also, has anyone put a swing arm mount on one of these units and how did you do it?
Thanks,
Tim

We also have an SV-291 (2007) and love it. My DH put a swing arm for a 19" LCD at the end of the cabinets by the door so we could turn it and watch from bed, the couch or the dinette. I will take pictures of what he did and post them with another reply.

I bought a 22 inch and the 2009 version has a place to mount it at the end of the queen bed.

I do have a problem with the hot water heater. It will heat up to about 110 degrees but no more. It also won't cycle when you use some of the hot water. This is the case on gas, with electricity it only gets to 100 degrees. Any ideas?

That would be excellent. Thank you.

We also have the SV291.

We bought a 26" flatscreen and place it on the bar, with its back up against the wall of the trailer. So the TVs left edge is by the door and right edge is by the window. Perfect spot, and it simply moves to the queen bed when traveling.

Re: the hot water heater... never had that problem with mine... mine can get Mucho hot. We adjusted our temp down. Never use the electricity, just the gas.

Things I have learned from my 2009 SV291:
Buy a memory foam mattress pad
Kids and dogs multiply the dirt factor by 10
Check the cable on the roof from the antenna to the roof connection, it has a tendancy to break the seal at the roof
If your kitchen sink faucet breaks, go to Lowes or Home Depot and get a real one
See above about kids and dogs
Invest in an electric power tongue lift
Watch the weight....really, don't load the front storage area too much
You will instantly find new "friends" who suddenly like camping......with you
Remember about kids and dogs
Tire air pressure is critical, check before every trip
Always....and I cannot stress this enough....always do a two time walk around after hooking up to the TV. You will be suprised that what you thought you had done...wasn't

BIll, you might want to mention that kids & dogs multiply the dirt factor by ten!
We got a patio mat and you'd be surprised how much that helps.
Also, the walk around twice is good advise. I walk around once I have everything hooked up and again just before departure checking the lights, etc.. And you're right, you'll be surprised how many times you'll find a little something.

Oh yeah. Look up! that darn tv antenna is up there.

Amen on:

Foam Mattress Pad
Kids, Dogs, and Dirt
Kitchen Faucet... especially the drain underneath, (big black house in slideout).

One other thing. don't let the kids eat food in the TT. It seems to spread, and not in a good way like say, wildflowers.

I can't comment on the kids part but the "friends" part is why we upgraded from our hybrid camper to our SV291 after only 10 months. It seemed like every other outing there were 4 adults in a 21 ft.long camper with no slideouts and very little storage.
