SV235RKS Extra Cabinet Photos

Here are the cabinets I added to our SV235RKS. They are from Lowes.

Nice job, they match nicely. Were you able to fined a stud for the wall mounted cabinet?

I did not look for studs. I used a plastic wall anchor that does a really great job. They are very solidly mounted. To be safe, I used twice the recommended amount of anchors. The wall anchor screws into the wall and then you run a screw through the cabinet and into the anchor. The anchors are also available at Lowes. Sorry, I don't have a picture of the anchor or the package number. I can try to get that next weekend if you are interested. At the very least, I can take a picture of the anchor and post it.

that's a great match and a nice job. We just got our lowe's here a few months ago (near toronto, Canada). I'll have to go snoop and see if they have the same inventory. I find there is a big lack of storage in our trailer. I'm kinda ticked they didn't use the space under the couch more efficiently. Guess that's where the "mods" start!

Yes. And another thing is that they could have put doors on the areas under the dinnette seats! Most RVs have those. I might get some doors and mount my own. The doors that are in the bathroom would probably work if I can get them from Forest River.

I did what you are talking about. Ordered the doors from FR, same as the one used in the bathroom. They came with the hinges and knob mounted.

Hey Chuck! We've exchanged emails in the past about your mods. You must have put some framework on the inside the way it looks? As support for the paneling and the doors?

Yes, I built a 1x2 wood frame to attach behind the paneling and give the door hinges something to screw on to. I did this about two years ago, and it has worked out very well. I was thinking about removing the fabric apron that covers the front of the sofa and adding doors. There is some space to be had under the sofa. My wife did not want the doors down by her feet while sitting on the sofa, and the storage to be gained was not that much, so I ditched the idea.

I also own a 235rks, and would love to have some additional storage space.

Did you put the plastic anchors onto the back and side of the cabinet?
I am essentially wondering whether you drilled into the external wall, or only the inside wall on the side of the cabinet?

What size screw and anchor did you use?

Not sure how your sofa is constructed but our old Keysrone Litehouse had a fabric covered piece of plywood for the face of the sofa. I removed the screws and bought a
6ft piano hinge and two magnetic catches at HD. Screwed the hinge to the back of the sofa face and the framing. We then had total access to the area under the sofa and it still looked the same with nothing protruding out.

All cabinets were fixed to the external wall. Bought the fasteners at Lowes. Cobra Wall Driller. Screw-in drywall anchors. SKU 58060 79425. Mixed pack of #6 and #8 anchors. VERY solid. Each anchor will support 30 to 40 pounds (according to packaging). I used 4 for every cabinet to be more than sure as there is plenty of shaking going on back there and the anchors are not in drywall obviously. I drilled small pilot holes in the cabinets, put them against the wall where i wanted them, penciled through the pilot holes to locate where the anchors should go. then put in the anchors. then just put the cabinet back up and run the screws into the anchors. Easy as can be. The Lowes cabinets are almost a perfect match for wood and color. Door design is slightly different.
