TT body work

Well, I finally did it. I picked up my brand new 2012 SP275 on Saturday. Got it home and loaded with all our gear. And then promptly drove it into a tree in my yard. The tree won. Luckily, my wife signed us up for collision insurance with a tiny deductable. The adjuster comes out tomorrow. We'll see what he says. Not a lot of damage, just the weather stripping on the right front corner and the door frame has sprung (that's the biggie).

Question is does any one have any experience with TT body work? I'm wondering if it might have to be shipped back to the manufacturer.

Any help/info would be appreciated.

bigger dealers normally have a body repair shop !
I sm one of the lucky ones and I have 6 dealers within 20 minute drive !
4 out of the 6 have body shops !

Ouch! I know that hurt you more than the TT.

I used to think it was great that my TT didn't have any dings but after the second one I now think the TT isn't getting used enough if it doesn't have a boo boo or two.

Several people have had slide walls etc. repaired at their local dealer. Not sure if they can ship a whole sidewall to a capable dealer. Personally, I would want it to go back to the factory for repairs if you are getting into repairing the wall itself.

My concern would be that the wall was jolted enough that you may have separated the framing from the luan but you can't see it yet (springing the door frame sounds like quite a jolt and could lead to future problems...)

Sorry about your BOO-BOO. Sounds like it is not too bad. I have had near misses and then a boo-boo. I feel like Terier does, If you use it enough stuff will happen.

Thanks for the info and encouragement. I told my wife that if this is as bad as it gets we're in pretty good shape. And yes, it did hurt me a whole lot more than the TT but I'll get over it. Just another case of live and learn. I learned a lot form this one bone headed move. You have to watch BOTH sides while moving.

You also need to be very aware of low level roof overhangs when traveling near your garage or say a gazebo in a campground with the road too close on one side and guide stakes on the other! 😳

first and foremost glad no one was hurt.
Things happen - when ever my parents got a new vehicle and if they got a ding within the first 6 months it lasted a long time - if they didnt get a ding before the 6 months it usually got more damage some point along the way.

I cringe when I go under those low bridge's - went under a bridge marked 14"1 and was like dam I knew I needed to measure the trailer before I go under one of those - my truck and canoe is higher then the camper so if the canoe hits I know to stop LOL
