For the most part it does sound like the marjority of Forest River owners are happy with their units! I do realize that a product that is mass produced, not every single one is perfect. Like I mentioned, I'm in for the long haul and feel that a slide that leaks, roof separating, interior walls separating, defective Thetford water valve, defective Suburban water heater Module board, and defective Concertone AM/FM/DVD/CD player fits outside the box in terms of quality control from Forest River! Especially since the trailer is less than six months old...it's only been in my hands since the end of October.

My biggest dilemma...finding a dealing that will accept warranty issues with my trailer. Since the trailer was not purchased locally, they are reluctant to offer service!

Anyway...moral of the original post...be limited on walking on the roof!

I understand where you are coming from. Our 08 Ram 2500 megacab was in the shop 37 time in the first 25 months and is still not fixed to my satisfaction. But the 04 Ram we had prior only saw the shop for regular maintenance. in 4 years and 187,000km.

Tell them to offer service or next rv will not be from them.

I believe your roof is made the same as mine. It's fibreglass and not a rubber surface covering. I'm 235 and I get up on mine to clean it and inspect the seams. I do try to avoid the areas where the ducts run through the ceiling.

Thumbs down

scubieman...

I have yet to figure out if it's the economy or Retail/Dealers just don't give a crap! Now, I can not vouch for my home Pensacola, Florida...but in the Hampton Roads area of Virgina (Va. Beach, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Suffolk)the Dealers do pick and choose what work they will accept! This spring my best shot may be to head home with the trailer and see what the Dealer response is on warranty!

I am 275 lbs. I called FR (service/warr dept) and asked them. I was told they have up to 3 people on the roofs working at a time. I was told it was no problem, just use common sense. ie jumping up and down.

I'm Somewhat lucky. I have a dealer across town that said they would work on my RV ONLY IF there clients that bought from them are taken care of first which im fine with. Plus i have another dealer about 2 1/2 to 3 hours away in case something really urgent needs to be fixed. Lucky there is not much to RV that would make the thing useless too me.

Just put vent covers on my SV-305 this past Saturday. I do not like walking up there!!! I noticed the "splintering" sound of plywood even when trying to step where there seemed to be a support running through (slight rise)...I guess that's what insurance is for....crashing! My next roof top adventure will be putting that eternabond tape on all the seams...I'll try not to gain any extra weight between now and then.

Cool

I just installed my third Maxx-Air vent cover today, and it amazes me that the workmanship is so poor on the roof my Surveyor! There's not one spot I can walk without hearing a cracking sound...looks like I'll have to invest in some scaffolding for my next roof adventure!
