Water leak in heater exhaust port
I have a 2013 Surveyor Sport SV285. After owning the camper about one and a half years, I went to turn on the furnace before a trip and the fuse blew. After trying other fuses and continuing to blow them, I took the camper to my dealer to be checked out. It was determined that my furnace blower motor was rusted and the fan would not move, causing the fuse to blow each time an attempt was made to turn it on. The technicians traced the problem to water coming into the heater exhaust port and causing the rust. The motor was replaced under the extended warranty. The techs said it appeared to be a design flaw with the camper as the awning bracket comes down to the top of the heater exhaust port, allowing water to run into the port from rain, etc. I was told to try and level the camper more to that that side when parked to try and avoid the problem as best as possible. Now, about 5 months later the same thing has happened. I took the camper back to dealer and they confirmed the same issue with water coming into the heater exhaust port. The extended warranty refuses to pay twice for the same problem. The dealer service rep has called Forest River and sent a video to them showing how the water can run into the port. They have refused to acknowledge the problem so far and say they have not heard of this issue with any other Surveyors. The cost to me could be about $500 when it should be on Forest River, in my opinion.
Wondering if anyone else has had a similar problem? Thanks.
