17 or 19RR
Hello,
New here, I've been looking around and I think I have narrowed it down to either the 17 or 19 Wolf Pup. It's me and our 1yr sold at the moment and I currently ride a Suzuki LTR450. What would be the better choice between the 2? I will be towing with a 17 F150 2.7 Ecoboost so I don't want to buy something that is too big to be towed by it.
What would be something to look out for with either of these? This will be my first trailer.
Thanks in advance.

First thing to consider is the cargo capacity of the tow vehicle (there should be a yellow sticker I side the drivers door ) your weight 15% of the max weight of the camper plus any cargo I. The truck (passanger and driver are cargo) should not exceede the cargo capacity. Most times this is where people run out of room first

Thanks! Yellow sticker, "cargo should never exceed" 1533 lbs. I weight 200lb wife is 110 and kid is 25lb. So 335 lbs in passengers. I'm not sure if I read the second part correctly. Did you mean 15% + my weight - 1533 = ?? Now sure i'm fallowing.

For about 100 lbs more I would look at the 22rr. You have walk around bed in that one.
When we went looking we went to look at a 19rr and 22rr. We ended up with the 26rr. I did upgrade truck to 2500 for payload.
17=400 hitch weight
19=574 hitch weight
22=686 hitch weight
My 26= 775 actual loaded is around 940.
Good luck in your choice.
Where you load your bike has effect on tongue weight.

1533 1533 - 335 leaves you just shy of 1200 lbs for toung weight and other crap you put in your truck
Gvwr 19rr I see is 7574
15 % of that is 1136 lbs so that leaves you 64 lbs for your kid to grow and for stuff in your truck

7574lbs is the 19rr fully loaded right ? Dry weight was something like 4200 or so (brochure not in front of me), I don’t know if I’ll ever fully load this trailer as most of the time used will be 3/4 days max. If I keep the trailer loaded at around 6500 I think I would be ok with the 19rr.

The 17rp has a 5480 gvwr so 15% of that is 822 so 300 lbs less toung weight
So more room for the kid to grow and stuff in the truck but less cargo capacity in the camper

Dry weight is with no frills no options no water no battery no propane tanks
The weight of all your gear will add up fast
Even keeping it around 6500 you will be at 975lbs tounge weight toy haulers tend to be tounge heavy unless you have a large toy

My tongue weight is over 740# without my goldwing in it. I would of waited for a 22RR if I knew it was coming. But still having fun.

We went with the 22RR instead of the 19RR....we like that fact that you can get out of either side of the bed.....and that the toilet is not in the shower (you have a real nice shower stall).....BTW we haul a Gold Wing inside.

Rickrolling,
Unlike 99% of the posts on RV forums concerning RV\TV, you are considering options that are VERY doable!
I have both a HD diesel tow vehicle AND an F150 with the 2.7
I pull the Wolf Pup 17RP with the F150 every time. That truck just rides so nice across this great land we live in.
And one thing about that 17RP, if you are NOT stuffing it with big heavy toys, it is actually difficult to use up the cargo capacity of the little toy hauler. I mean, your Suzuki is not a burden!
I'm not saying you can't haul a bigger trailer package, but that 2.7 will yank that little 17RP around with nary a complaint. And you won't be stuck in the slow lane either. She comes with 75mph tires.
FYI, you will drop dramatically from that fantastic 23-25 mpg though. lol
Also note that even though the toy hauler is light, I still choose to use a weight distribution hitch with sway control. I also added airbags to the truck to combat against that soft initial 2"'s of travel in the rear. The whole thing just travels fantastic.
Good luck!

Picked this one up from AOK RV in Missouri when I picked up the Wolf Pup. Couldn't believe they were $4500 cheaper than every dealer in the Houston metropolis. I think the hitch was 300ish installed? Some would call it overkill with that light of a trailer. But I was heading straight out for a 2 ½ month run across some of the plains states and a bunch of mountain passes as well.
Like I described, the little 2.7 and F150 almost manhandles the 17RP.

I have to agree with Snakebitten on the truck. I have the same setup as him. I just don't have the hitch he does. No problems pulling with it loaded (water, Super Tenere, and everything the wife says we need). The 17RP is a nice rig for the $$ and coming from a tent hauled on the motorcycle.
